We traveled with friends to Myrtle Beach for a special weekend, to celebrate December birthdays. A trip to the gardens was part of what we planned to do over the weekend. As you enter through a spectacular entrance, you immediately know you have come to a special place. The gardens, layout of the landscape and the spectacular 300 year old live oak trees are awesome. These trees bring new meaning to timeless. Originally designed as a sculpture garden in the shape of a butterfly, the sculpture located throughout was my favorite part of the visit. I can only imagine how beautiful this place must be in the spring and summer when flowers and plants are in bloom.

On the recommendation of family who lives in the area, we visited the gardens last week. They were quite beautiful even in mid December. The sculptures were lovely but the fountains were not in operation. Visited the museum & were lucky that during our inside visit it rained hard ... when we exited, the sun was shining again.
Recommend!

We had not planned to visit Brookgreen Gardens, but then decided to spend a few hours here before we checked into our inn. The gardens were absolutely beautiful as were the many sculptures scattered throughout the property. The gardens were meticulously maintained and there are miles of paved paths to walk, as well as tram transportation, if needed. Our only regret was that we had not allotted more time to this activity and I hope that we will return at some point.

On the recommendation of a friend who lives in the MB area, we went with her to Brookgreen Gardens for their Christmas extravaganza 'Nights of 1000 Candles'.

I would recommend going at about 4:30 to be able to enjoy some of the sculptures while it is light out and to see the floating candles being lighted.

There are entertainers performing every night from about 4:30-9, and food is available as well.

We visited the Gardens for their illuminated evening and it was one of the most amazing experiences I've had. It was totally magical and mesmerizing. We went out of our way to get there and it was worth every minute. A must for your bucket list!!
