“Great even in Winter”
Reviewed January 26, 2012

We walked around Brookgreen Gardens this chilly January and have a lovely time. It was wonderful to almost have the garden to ourselves. Still a great place to visit even in Winter! The stroller worked well in the garden and the young child had fun identifying the animal sculptures!

“Probably best attraction of strand. Located in Murrells Inlet”
Reviewed January 26, 2012

Best outdoor sculpture exhibit in country plus great gardens. Has good zoo to see birds and wildlife. Boat tours of Waccamaw river. Land tours of old rice plantation. Much more. My first visit was when I was age 4, I'm now 75 and still visit.

“25 times and counting!”
Reviewed January 11, 2012

I have been here 25 times since the day I was born and the family began vacationing in Pawleys Island from NY. They have constantly expanded the facility and now includes a terrific boat ride depicting the history of rice croping. Take a bike or just walk the grounds nd definitely bring a picnic lunch!

“Brookgreen Gardens - Admission good for 7 days.”
Reviewed January 8, 2012

In 1931, Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington preserved over 9000 acres near Murrell's Inlet, SC, just south of Myrtle Beach on four former rice plantations. The sculptures and gardens here are amazing. Take a Trekker tour to visit former plantation and slave cemeteries. Lowland zoo includes a swamp aviary, otter habitat, and other animal exhibits. Wild turkey are abundant and watch for the Southern Fox Squirrel. Cross the highway and visit Huntington Beach State Park to tour the Huntington's former winter home and Anna's studios.....admission only $1 (park admission extra). Very nice educational center at the State Park with a super salt water marsh boardwalk.

While any visit to Brookgreen Gardens is a grand experience, attending the Night of 1,000 Candels is exceptional. By going at dusk you see items in a bit of sunlight and then 5500 candles let you experience a wonderland of vareing views.
