“Excellent Hotel for Not Being in the Historic District”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2006

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights over New Year's weekend, and it was an excellent choice! It was in a very convenient location for not being in the historic district; it was literally over the new Cooper River Bridge, and it only took approx. two minutes to drive into the downtown area.

The hotel itself was updated and clean, as was our room. We opted for a room with a microwave/fridge combo, which came in handy. The complimentary breakfast was also a plus. The only issue we had was that the walls were thin, so you could hear muffled conversations or tv. The hotel was very popular, especially on the night of New Year's Eve.

We had debated between staying here or staying at the Hampton Inn in the historic district, and we saw where the Hampton Inn Historic District was located. We were very happy with our choice, considering we would have paid twice as much, and it still would have been a far walk to the some of the sights.

We loved the Hampton Inn. We printed off the directions for the hotel off Map Quest. After turning around a few times, we called the hotel. They informed us that a new bridge had been built and that the Map Quest directions were incorrect. So--just a heads up for everyone, just call the hotel if your directions seem to be taking you to a quiet neighborhood.
I read on Trip Advisor that this hotel was a good option for wanting to see Charleston and it was. It was easy to get across the bridge in Charleston, but not have to pay the higher rates for being right in the city. We were there during Tropical Storm Tammy, so it rained all the time. We still had a great time. Also, if you time it right, they have warm chocolate chip cookies in the lobby!!

Arriving late into Charleston and finding most other hotels booked solid, this place wasn't too bad for a last minute choice.

If you've stayed at a Hampton Inn, you'll probably know what to expect. Having said that, this is better than the norm with a pleasant pool area, nice decoration and reasonable breakfast (although it was busy with loads of kids).

As the others said, the staff were efficient and friendly but it's a pretty faceless environment.

Good value but run-of-the-mill - I'm glad we only stayed one night.

Stayed here with our two small kids while visiting Charleston. Very nice Hampton Inn, nice rooms, breakfast, etc, as we have come to expect from the chain. Position is about a 5-10 min drive from downtown Charleston. We chose this location over the "Riverview" area and weren't disappointed.

This hotel was a genuine find. With a 2 year old we wanted a hotel with a pool that was close to the city but not in it. This hotel was spotless with very nice rooms. The decor was very modern and new. Breakfast is included and a great start to our day - my daughter wanted to stop by everytime we came back to the hotel. And the pool was wonderful - clean with a great patio and landscaping surrounding it. We could not ask for a better place for the price and we looked around during our stay and decided to stay here for the whole week. The hotel was a perfect home base since it is minutes to great restaurants (Shem Creek), the beaches and Patriots point.
