We found this gem just by chance - it was close to our hotel. We enjoyed a quiet, relaxing dinner for two. The food was some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten. We were impressed with the service and the friendliness of the staff and the price was reasonable. When there are places like this, why does anyone eat at Olive Garden?

We've traveled to Italy several times and we've dined at Bacco several times. Chef/owner Michael prepares his dishes in an authentic Italian manner, not 'American-Italian'. If you're looking for baked ziti, this is not your place. However, if you are looking for house made pasta, served al dente and piping hot, this may be the place for you. In addition to several pastas, the breads and desserts are also house made; local ingredients and fish are very fresh. Entrees include meat, poultry and seafood options. The ambiance is somewhat casual; the servers know the menu and do their best to make your experience a pleasant one. Desserts are delicious - if you have room. The T-F Happy Hour is a great way to sample the menu and enjoy wine/beer/bar drinks at a very reasonable price. T-F lunch offerings include Neapolitan style brick oven pizza and delicious sandwiches. Compared to Charleston pricing, Bacco is a very good value.

Having lived in New Jersey for 10 years - we know authentic and delicious Italian cuisine, exactly what you will find at Bacco. Enjoy a wide variety of nicely priced wines. Salad starters including a wonderful Caesar salad, then a great selection of homemade pastas and entrees. Be careful - the homemade bread can easily disrupt your meal.

What a great find. Thank you Michael & Luigi.

After a two year hiatus, we decided to try Bacco again. We had not been impressed before and, unfortunately, were not impressed this time. If it were not for an excellent waiter, Michael, and a decent bottle of Italian white at a special discounted price, I might have marked our visit even lower. There's always the discussion over whether the daily specials or the regular menu is a better representation of a restaurant's cuisine. For better or worse, we chose two of the specials, one a ravioli with pureed scallop filling in a bechamel sauce, and the other a layered Parmagiana dish with both chicken and veal in the typical red sauce. Neither impressed. The ravioli was not just al dente, it was tough and bland to boot. The red sauce on the other dish had a distinctly burned flavor. Both had that texture that usually only comes from being held under a heat lamp. I doubt we'll give Bacco another try. There are just too many better Italian restaurants in the area.

If you are looking for Americanized Italian Food you may want to adjust your expectations. The Chef brings the essence of Italy to his recipes. Highly recommend the grilled octopus on a bed of Arugula, Fantastic flavor!
