A great local stop for a quick lunch with no amenities and lots of charm. The hotdogs are excellent and come in EVERY shape and combination

Okay, so Alton Brown stopped at this joint on a motorcycle ride... and so did we, even though we left the Harley back home. It was worth the stop, at least once. The place is funky as can be, loaded up with 50's stuff, including an old cigarette machine my father would have owned 60 years ago. Lots of rockets hung here and there, too. The two people working the joint were terrific... took our order, took our money and smiled. We had a krypto kraut dog, some biff chicken, rings, fries and slaw (both kinds) and had a good time wolfing it all down. Lots of fun and a neat place to take visitors, if you happen to live around the area. But being originally from Brooklyn, I much prefer dogs that are done on a grill - best yet over a charcoal fire like Ted's up in Buffalo - and that are charred and juicy and snap when you bite them. Jack's don't and the very good fixings (like sweet potato mustard) don't fully compensate. But what the heck? Jack's is a lot closer than Nathan's or a deli in The City and much, much closer than Ted's... although I would probably crawl over broken glass in the snow for a couple of Ted's dogs right about now. Nonetheless, I'd recommend Jack's just for fun if you're passing through. Alton Brown is never wrong.

From the outside it looks like a shack. But low and behold when you step inside you realize it's a pretty cool place. The menu is pretty straight forward and displays a variety if hot dig choices, even vegetarian selections. You can also purchase soda in the old bottles or a draft root beer. Service was quick and staff friendly. Food served hot and tasty. Prices are a little steep for "just a hot dog" but honestly when you think about it you pay more for a crappy cold hot dog at a ballpark or bag of peanuts. Just unfortunate that it cost 18$ for "dinner" for 2 in a seat yourself kinda place where you left still feeling little hungry. Anyways the quality of food was good and decor of restaurant pretty nostalgic. I would encourage travelers in the area like myself to give it a try, was also recommended by food network.

I love taking guests here for lunch - the funky atmosphere is a blast back to the 50s. Cold rootbeer mugs, old coca cola machine, and the biggest choice for hot dog add-ons you will ever see. The hot dogs are a little small for a place where that is their specialty and the buns are grocery store average, but the sweet potato mustard and blue cheese cole slaw are fabulous.

Great little spot on Highway 17 North. Quick service, tons of yummy choices in hot dogs and some fantastic fries. The sweet potato mustard is worth grabbing a jar to take home or to a friend.
As always, the eclectic inside is fun, retro and very different from the norm.
