We finally made it in to try to the Old Village Post House on our return trip to Mt. Pleasant after being away for 5 years. Each course was extremely well done, with the crab bisque soup being particularly tasty. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice understated night off the beaten path. The wait staff was quite attentive without being overbearing and the location in the old village is a treat in itself.

My husband and I stayed here the night of our wedding and the stay included breakfast. I ordered the pancakes, if I remember correctly. They were amazing! I definitely recommend coming for breakfast sometime.

Thank you trip advisor. We would never have stumbled upon this great little restaurant/b & b during our first visit to the Charleston area without reviews from this site. The ambience was such a difference from the waterside fish houses that we relished the experience from beginning to end. My husband rates his fried oyster appetizer and flounder entree as one of his favorite meals during our 4 day stay. We had the good fortune to eat in the tavern portion of the restaurant on a Saturday evening, which was cozy, warm and cheery. They had a TV on showing NCAA basketball, but it only added to the atmosphere without dominating the room. We had no trouble finding parking and found our server to be likable and helpful in giving us menu tips.

Took advantage of Restaurant Week special and had an excellent meal this past weekend. Sat us immediately as we arrived for our reservation. Server was her first night, but was excellent. Sheepshead entree was perfect (and served at the right temperature) and my partner loved the pork dish. Really love this place. Highly recommend.

The Old Village Post House is a bit hard to find, but worth the effort. It is in the tiny historic downtown of Mount Pleasant, SC. A dramatic contrast to the highway filled with strip malls that most of the town is known for.
The atmosphere is casual sophistication with great food and drink.
In warm weather you can sit outside in the patio.
I have dined here 4 times and the service has always been attentive but not overbearing.
During the Holidays they were able to accomodate a group of 12 with only a few weeks advance notice - while most of the restraunts in downtown Charleston need months advance reservation.
One note of caution is that parking is difficult. Expect to park on the street and walk a few blocks in dimmly lit residential neighborhoods.
The menu includes simple fare as well as regional yummies.
