“Fresh shrimp and steamed oysters!”
Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

We went to Shem Creek Bar and Grill for the fresh steamed oysters and peel and eat shrimp. Both were wonderful. Tasted like they were fresh off the boat. The she-crab soup was average. The service was very average. The waiter was rather aloof and disinterested. We were not given any place to put our shells either. However, the food arrived promptly. Despite the service, I still gave it four stars because the oysters and shrimp were so good. The view of Shem Creek was beautiful as well!

“Go for the drinks, not the food!”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

If you happen to be in the area, stop by Shem Creek Bar and Grill for the best Bloody Mary in the world. This place has a back bar which is where you need to sit for the best views of the marshes while drinking the world's best Bloody Mary. Do not get the drink with dill pickle infused vodka, but the house drink with clamato, a boiled shrimp and two big fat olives. Not to mention lime and lemon slices. If you are hungry, stick with the fried food, not terribly exciting but well done. The view and the drinks are the key here, this is a locals bar. And you can't beat the view when sitting at the bar, and I guarantee you will leave with a warm feeling and lots if tall tales from the locals! And don't sit anywhere but the back bar, unless you want to be a tourist!

“Can't recommend”
Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

Very disappointed at our recent visit. My husband ordered she crab soup and it was so thick you could stand a spoon in it. I ordered oyster stew which is made to order. It was spicy which it isn't supposed to be and was entirely too thick. To add insult to injury, it was Luke warm! There were two other couples with us and they had the same problems. Why the recipes were changed is beyond my understanding. The Shem Pot was good for the most part, but the lobster was tough. The crab legs, to give them some credit, were very good. So... If you go, don't order either of the soups mentioned.

“Very Good Seafood, and Amply Portions!”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Typical Bar & Grill. Rustic decor! Noisey bar! Very good seafood! Recommended by the desk clerk at our hotel for a good place to enjoy a good seafood dinner. Very good seafood, and amply portions; but a little pricey by our standards. My husband had the Seafood Spectacular (Grilled Shimp, Scallops, Mahi Mahi, and a Crab Cake) with 2 sides (greens beans and red rice) $19.99. I had the Damn Good Crab Cakes (Crab Meat with spices, minced onion, celery & peppers formed into cakes and grilled, and topped with She Crab Sauce), with 2 sides (green beans and red rice) $19.99. Our total bill with drinks $49.97. Suggestion if you're not into the bar scene, eat early.

“ONE FOR THE CHEF!!!”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Around the lowcountry swamps and tidal creeks of Mt. Pleasant SC the tendency is to think "table with a view!" Fine! A good view, a good glass of wine, and a good companion is hard to foul up even with sorry food!!! When it comes to the Shem Creek Bar & Grill this one's for the chef!!! Fresh oysters! Fresh shrimp! Eat your heart out Forrest and Bubba!!! There is a view, there is plenty of fine wine, and the companion can be good, bad, or indifferent but the visit will be a success if you eat! Thanks, Shem Creek B&G Chef for SC lowcountry seafood to remember!!! Can't wait to return!!!
