This place is a conundrum. It's kind of a hole in the wall, but not in a really charming way, more in a dusty biker bar way- at least in the lounge. However, on the restaurant side, the tables are very secluded and private, with ecletic decor and great 70s music, and the service was good. The fondue is decent, but not spectacular. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner, but probably wouldn't make another trip. We fondue out so rarely, we will save it for the real deal at The Melting Pot.

My manly man fiance was totally against the idea of fondue until we got a coupon and tried this place, my treat. Pricey, yes... but for the amount of food and service you get, it's a great value. The atmosphere is quirky and relaxed - you can do jeans or dressy and fit right in. We were tucked in a romantic little corner and only saw our server all night. We had a fantastic 2 1/2 hour dinner just chatting and raving over the food -- we recommend beer-battered cheddar, the spiced-chicken broth and Raspberry white chocolate- a definite! My fried-chicken-lovin' man left saying this was the best food (and best value) he'd ever had. Not a first date place unless you're sure conversation will be great for 1.5+ hours! GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY!

Wow, it started out rough got better then went downhill after that. We had a party of 6, so we had burners going... well only one got hot the other just warm.. felt like forever and a day till we could mix cheese in pot. Even the last bites that are normally hotter then your first (due to being closer to bottom of pot) were cold. The chef salad was very good... then to the main course filet and shrimp. Once again took awhile to get the temperature up... then while cooking the filet (normally a 45 sec dip) which was taking about 2 min to cook to temp. The power to the burners were shut off via breaker in kitchen.. it took us a bit to realize that nothing was cooking.... They got the power on... we waited some more then started cooking again... Staff adjusted the burners and WOW the last two pieces of steak were very good. Its amazing how a good it can taste if burners are on....
Then the bill comes. My 18 dollar meal totaled 32 before the 18% mandatory gratuity was added..... oh my what happed here... "That's because you do not get free refills for your soda's like you do in every other restaurant in the low country!"

Hmmmm I guess I will stop ranting now... Do I recommend.. maybe ... I suggest a bottle of wine insted of soda... much better value.

If you want to look at dusty decor and old people, you will like being able to cook your own food. What's the point?
