Enjoyable evening and a great waiter, Patrick. He did great in spite of the fact that he had too many tables. The management would do better to hire more servers. Meals were very good but the two appetizers ordered left a lot to be desired. The view is one of the best in Charleston and the restaurant is new and spacious.
Two at our table ordered the clam appetizers and two ordered the She Crab Soup. None of them were very happy with their selection. I tasted the soup and it was very fishy. Crab soup is one of my favorites and this is one of the worst I have eaten.
Dinners were delicious. I had the roasted scallops and they were superb. The hopping john risotto was excellent and I also got a side of the cabbage. Very different preparation, but it was excellent as well. My husband had the swordfish and thoroughly enjoyed it. Others had fried and grilled shrimp and scallops and all loved their dishes. The only complaint was from one of the guys who ordered the fried flounder. It came to him very overdone and we all agreed. He sent it back. They were as quick as they could have been in bringing him another flounder. The second one was better, but was still more done than our friend preferred.
Even though we were not completely satisfied this restaurant has a lot going for it. We will just not order the clams, soup, or flounder again.
