“Surprisingly delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

My wife and I ate at the bar and had 2 appetizers. The menu was mouth watering and the food was even better. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Very large portions. The service was on point. The bartender was knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. The atmosphere was like being in a model house with all the charm and decor to make you feel right at home. Great selection of beers on tap and priced right. I'm already planning our next night out and plan to bring a group to enjoy this hidden gem. Highly recommend you try this restaurant!

“A tapas place with warm style”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

I've always loved tapas bars in places like Barcelona but the tapas themselves have kind of left a lot to be desired: too greasy and too much mayonnaise (I REALLY don't like mayonnaise!) Not only do they have a great menu of "not your typical tapas" at J.Paul'z but the preparations and flavors are simple and really tasty. Add a good wine list, dark polished surroundings and cool jazz in the background and that's my recipe for a tasty, romantic evening!

“Unique and Surprising”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

Pulled into this establishment as an afterthought, primarily looking for some late evening bites and not a complete meal. We were very surprised by the menus variety and immediately seized the opportunity by trying two appetizers and two sushi rolls. The sushi was some of the best I have had in the Charleston area and the pork dumplings and calimari were cooked to perfection and nice portions for our money. The service was on point and the ambience definitely fit the date night mood.

“Simply delicious food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

While vacationing with my family this Christmas at Folly Beach, a local suggested we try J Paulz in Mt. Pleasant SC, just a 30 minute drive. Six of us decided to go for dinner. We were greeted by Travis James the manager, who was very friendly and accommodating. I loved the light music playing in the background, and the soft atmosphere. There was a nice crowd, but not noisy, so we could enjoy our conversation without raising our voices. The menu offers tapas, sushi, and other entrees. So many to choose from we didn't know where to begin. Our server, Mr. Brooks, was very helpful here, and everything he suggested was just delicious. We tried the Lobster Mac "N Cheese (outstanding), Jalapeno Mac 'N Cheese (very yummy); Tapas including the Spicy Pork Dumplings, Calamari, and Tuna Tartare Tostadas; and Sushi including the Dynamite Roll, Mamahoohoo, and Son of a Beach. We topped it off with a "melt in your mouth" chocolate cake! Everything was super delicious! Our food came out continually and the service was fantastic. What a treat! We will definitely be back and tell others about J Paulz!

“Meh”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2012 via mobile

We wanted to le this place but it was hard. Harsh lighting was not welcoming, for starters. Service not very buttoned up, and in need of training g. But real problem was the food. Trio of dips? All store bought, for sure. Tapas? Pass. Sushi roles tasted less than fresh. Menu reads better than it eats
