Charleston Water Taxi

Owner description: Don't miss the boat! Water Taxis make hourly trips across the harbor to downtown Charleston starting at 9am. Leave the car in Mt Pleasant at the Charleston Harbor Resort at Patriots Point and avoid the parking hassle. $10 all day pass allows you to come and go when you please. Water Taxis land at Waterfront Park/Market St. and the Charleston Maritime Center next to the Aquarium Wharf. The water taxis make a scenic 4 mile loop around Charleston Harbor checking out dolphins on the way. Great for kids and grown-ups who just want to get on the water.

I hate to give a "poor" rating, but it is because we couldn't use the taxi. We stayed at Shem Creek, and although there is a sign for a water taxi, we didn't see a number nor were given information. Supposedly there is a transport from Patriots Point, but you are required to purchase a ticket to the museum there. Not in our plans! So, we had to drive back into Charleston and find parking. SUGGESTION: Offer water taxi service from either Pat Pt or Shem Creek with no strings attached.

This is the best way to travel to / from Patriot's Point - added benefit is free car parking at the northern-most terminal in Charleston.

We use the water taxi a lot to go to Charleston. There is free parking at Patriot's Point and the water taxi takes you directly to Waterfront Park in Charleston. It runs 6 dollars per person (one way). Check their schedule, in the winter they run only during the weekend (or Saturday)

My wife and I were looking for something different to do on our last day of being in town for a wedding. Absolutely enjoyed our ride (except for the pesky sand gnats). We had the great gentleman running our boat on Sunday the 23rd. Very nice and knowledgeable. We say many dolphins on our ride. We decided to just do the round trip deal for $10/person. If we had more time we would have gotten off & shopped & then gotten back on. As it was, the round trip was relaxing ride was just what we were looking for.

A little expensive if you have more than 1 person you are paying for. The drivers were friendly enough. It's a taxi, so don't expect a history lesson or anything.
