We used the water taxi for the first time to travel to the Yorktown for a fireworks display. The boat left on time from the Aquarium Dock and made it across in the choppy water in about 15 minutes. The folks in the front received a baptism of Cooper River as we crossed, as it was pretty windy and the water choppy. They seemed to enjoy it, however.
When the show was over, it was pretty late, but the water taxi folks found a way to get us back even after the "last boat" had gone. I really appreciated the extra effort and tipped them (not expected) for their efforts. I am considered a "local" and will definitely recommend them for other visitors to our city. The boats are open sided, so in the winter one might dress appropriately for our limited cold weather.
