“Pelicans, Dolphins, and Beauiful Scenery”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

This is a tiny place off the main drag in Mount Pleasant, only about 10 minutes from downtown Charleston. It is wedged in between a retail seafood store and a boating business. The Shem Creek Inn and Water's Edge are right there as well. The three staff were very friendly and very knowledgable. We paid about $44 to use a tandem kayak for the afternoon. We were given excellent instructions on how to paddle, turn, and navigate. We were given life jackets. We were given a laminated map and a laminated picture of local birds and other fauna. We were given a large waterproof bag for our our cameras and smaller one for our cell phone. We rowed out to Crab Island and got great photos of the pelican rookery, as well as terns, gulls, oyster flycatchers and others. When we returned to the river outlet we had a show from 8 dolphins who were swimming all around us. It was an amazing day and we paddled for 2.5 hours.

“What a great tour”
Reviewed August 17, 2012 via mobile

We went kayaking with nature adventure outfitters. There's a three minute lesson on how to paddle, then a great two hour tour. Elizabeth was very knowledgeable. Equipment great. Dollphins swam next to our canoe in shem creek. Two hours was plenty!!!

First time kayaking with the whole family. Our guide did a super job getting us ready. The kids had a blast and we saw and learned so much while just enjoying ourselves.

“Great Variety Kayak Tour”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

Ed was our guide for the Shem Creek and Crab Island Tour. It was a great experience and impressive how Ed made all participants feel good about their trip and effort. Shem Creek is beautiful and Ed shared the ever changing life of the area, from small snails to pelicans. We also had a variety of effort required, starting with relatively still waters of the creek, returning into the wind and then heading out to the Charleston Harbor with the waves from wind and passing boats.

I have been on several other kayak tours and this was one of the best! Also, Bob - on the experienced guides of the team was getting married that afternoon. Congratulations!

“Great Experience”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

We had a wonderful, easy kayak tour from the Still Boat landing up the creek into the cypress forest of Francis Marion National Forest just north (1 hour) of Charleston. Our guide, Laura (LK) was knowledgeable about the environment and was conscious of safety. We saw several alligators and many birds, including a special sighting of a swallow-tail kite. Very enjoyable 2 hours. There are some major potholes on the forest road on the way to the landing, so be careful. Take bug spray (not bad on the water, just while you are getting ready). We had a late afternoon tour and the water was calm on the creek. Easy paddling upstream and on the way back, basically just had to steer the boat.
