Review of Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park

Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park

Attraction details
Owner description: Called the crown jewel of Mount Pleasant, Memorial Waterfront Park offers more than just your average park. Located under the grand entryway to the town, at the base of the Ravenel Bridge, this park has plenty of lawn for enjoying family picnics, a nautical-themed playground modeled after the bridge that provides shade and the boats that pass by in the harbor, and soft-serve ice cream from the River Watch Cafe. The cafe offers beautiful views of Charleston Harbor and a 1,250-foot-long pier where you can sit and swing a while. Memorial Waterfront Park is also home to the Sweetgrass Cultual Arts Pavilion, War Memorial and Visitor Center.

“Great family fun.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

We had a great time there after dinner. 2 families with 5 kids had a blast running around and enjoying the various climbing activities all after the sun had set. The lights make it a nice place to be after it gets little cooler out in the evening.

“Little noisy but a great pier!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

What a great way to use otherwise wasted space under the Ravenel Bridge. The children's park is adorable and always seems to be well liked by the kids and the pier is beautiful. It's a little noisy since the highway runs above, but is still a nice place to just sit and look out across the Charleston Harbor.

“One of the latest best kept secrets in Charleston”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013 via mobile

This fairly new park is a wonderful place to pass time on a park bench, fish from the dock, eat ice cream till late at 10pm, or play with the kids. Ships will pass by. The pier is under the shade of the Ravenel Bridge with a cool sea breeze. One of the best kept secrets in Charleston.

“Great Place to View Sunsets”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

We saw and heard about this park on a harbor cruise. After walking the bridge, we drove down to the park. Parking was plenty and convenient. You look up and see the expanse of the Ravenel Bridge above you. There are wooden swings and rocking chairs along the pier. A good place to see sunsets as well as fishing. When we were there, we saw a HUGE container ship leaving which was about 1000 feet long and very wide. There was a nice breeze there. There was visible security there who seemed to know all the regulars. And it is FREE.

Tip: There is a bathroom and a nice snack shop on the pier.

“Must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

What a great park. I suggest going around sunset. The views from underneath the Bridge are wonderful. Great pier which extends 1/2 across the Cooper River. Nice playground area as well. No admission charge.
