After a lot of deliberation we chose Boone Hall as the one plantation to see in the Charleston area. This was a mistake, Everything about the place seemed mediocre and unexceptional. This wouldn't generally be a problem if things seemed well maintained, but everything seemed outdated and maintained to the minimum, including the gardens, For $20 per head, I would at least expect things to be meticulously maintained, but the grounds and gardens were just adequate, The fields had rotting produce and were more depressing than anything. They were spraying the fields with chemicals as we were passing by on the bus "tour" of the grounds. The bathrooms were outdated and the woman's stalls were missing a door. Everything about the place lacked quality. I don't know - it wasn't quite a ripoff but it was a far cry from Mount Vernon, that's for sure.

The Plantation is a site to see, alot of historic value and rich educational value as well as a very relaxing enviroment, If you go, try to get Bob as your guide, he is very entertaining and funny, he brings a great educational experiance to the tour, he will answer any questions you have and he adds so much to the tour, I will definatly go back again in the furture

“Can't miss attraction”

This is a can't miss attraction. The drive in through the trees is worth the visit all by itself. The tours are interesting. The grounds are beautiful.

“Boone Hall”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

I really just wanted to go to see the Avenue of the Oaks and thats all I really got out of it. The house is not historic, their really isn't much to see around the grounds. The restaurant/gift shop is weak. The slave cabins were pretty cool. Thats something where we spent more time than I thought we would. Its worth checking out. try and visit on a nice day as they cancel many of the activities when it is raining.

“Really enjoyed this tour.”

Two years ago we were in Charleston and toured Magnolia Plantation and missed Boone Hall, was not going to let that happen on this trip. There were four of us in our party and we all thought it was worth the money and time. You don't get to go in all the rooms of the house, but didn't see all the rooms at Magnolia or the Ante-Bellum homes we toured in Natchez, so wasn't really disappointed. I would liked to have been able to take pictures inside the home, but that is not allowed. The tram tour was very interesting and we had a very friendly driver that welcomed questions. Loved the dock house!! We did try the ice cream and it did taste like homemade, try the cookies and cream. We did get discount coupons from our hotel, but found we got a better deal by showing our AAA card.
When we left the farm we went to the Boone Hall store, the tram driver gave us directions, and found lots of goodies to bring back home.
