Description: Mount Pleasant’s best spot for exciting Asian cuisine, sushi and cocktails has become the place to be for locals and visiting guests alike. Inside, whimsical jellyfish lights hang from the ceiling, expert sushi chefs work steadily to prepare intriguing rolls and sashimi as guests chat at the grand bar stocked with top-shelf liquor, favorite beers on tap and a variety of high-end Sake. The Lowcountry’s most alluring patio is the crown jewel of Bambu. Partially enclosed for both hot days and cool nights, patrons feel they have been transported to paradise, all the while feeling right at home. The Koi pond, open community tables, intimate booths and outdoor bar create a fun, relaxed atmosphere that is second to none. The menu is decidedly contemporary casual Thai and Japanese with other Asian influences. Don't miss their amazing happy hour at their bar all week long and a "Ladies Night" on Thursdays. Open nightly at 4pm. Dinner service at 5pm.

“Pretty Darn Good!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2014

We had lunch here over the weekend. I had the California Roll and the Shrimp Tempura Roll and my husband had the Chicken Katsu. Having lived in Japan we found the Katsu very traditional, but would love it if the meal would consider some Japanese style curry with it. (A very traditional winter meal in Japan). I do want to go back to try the dessert menu. There was some sore of cheesecake wrapped in eggroll wrapper and fried???? Sounded delicious, and there are plenty of other things to try as well!

“Great food, great service, great quality”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

Ate dinner here last week (Dec 2013). Had an all-around good experience. I'm surprised at another local review saying the raw food was low-grade - mine was terrific.

Had tuna lover's sushi/sashimi platter, nearly had to roll out of the place when I was done. My son had the "potato roll" which was very much worth trying, terrific flavor (and not at all about potatoes, don't let the name fool you).

The Asian Donuts dessert was delicious, and I can't want to have that again. I ate one; my son ate 4-5 of them and was looking for more!

Was a slow weeknight; the service was timely and attentive.

Will definitely go back (my son wants to know "when?").

“Secret Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

Bambu is a great place for lunch $8 to $11 delicious specials only no one knows about it. I would like to see them change the Live Music sign out front to a big red sign with white letters
Lunch Specials Daily.
I am afraid if they do not get more traffic, they will discontinue lunch.

“Going Down Hill Fast”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

Bambu was once a very good bar and Japanese restaurant. Five years ago it was always crowded, and the sushi and shashimi were fresh and great. Fast forward. The place was sold recently, business is way off (almost spooky) and the raw food is now either of a lower grade or old. We have been there countless times over the years, but two weeks ago was our last time...for good. Stick a fork in this one; it's done.

“Great food and atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013

I've always enjoyed going to Bambu, especially on their Wednesday Ladies' Night! (half off wine and certain appetizers) The outdoor seating area is really enjoyable, and the food is good. There is a good selection of sushi and the Pad Thai I had was great as well. Prices are fair, especially when they have half-off type of promotions like Ladies' Night! Would recommend to a group looking for a good dinner, fair prices, and a nice ambiance. Enjoy!
