“Turtles Snakes Gators Butterflys”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

A trip to Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner SC was a wonderful surprise. This location has hosted several movie productions including The Patriot, The Notebook and Swamp Thing. As beautiful as the gardens are, the swamp is the main attraction. You can paddle yourself around the swamp, but the minimal charge to have a guided tour is well worth the cost. We were fortunate to come across several turtles sunning themselves on logs and a few alligators as well. If your lucky Cowboy will be your guide. The man is a wealth of information on the history and life of the swamp.
There is also an informative collection of photos depicting life on the plantation including the slave history.
A tour through the butterfly house not only included several species of butterflies, but also a resident duck with a somewhat questionable disposition.
Well worth the trip for us.

“A great experience”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

It was a great experience to paddle with a little boat into the swomp. It was very silent and you can hear all the birds and animals of the swomp. It's a must if you stay around.

“Great location for a family reunion”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Great place to hold a family reunion. Staff was very attentive and accomadating. Took a boat ride through the lake and saw alligators in the wild. I did not make it to the museuam and butterfly house but everyone commented on how nice they were also. The pavilions are conveniently located with some swings and children playground for the younger kids. If you plan to grill food I would recommend you take your own grill. Grill was not very clean or worked that well. Overall great experience.

“We Row, Row, Rowed Our Boat”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Went on a early morning, self-guided rowboat tour through the inky-black/caramel colored still waters of Cypress Gardens. The sun backlit the hanging, hovering Spanish moss, warmed the feathers of huge buzzards resting in tall trees, opened the petals of lilies and bounced off the trunks of ancient-looking, gnarly cypress, all reflecting their beauty on the water's calm surface. The butterfly and "swampatorium" (think: gator's, and other swamp-dwelling beings)were great; the bird exhibit was unimpressive. The Gardens host weddings, small conferences, and, of course, us tourists and locals.

“Cypress Swamp Paradise”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Just a short drive from Charleston you'll find Cypress Gardens, a place where many movies have filmed including The Patriot and the Notebook. You'll see why they chose this location after visiting! Take a boat ride through the swamp for an upclose look at the beautiful cypress trees and possibly some alligators will also pop up. Don't miss the Butterfly House or the Museum that tells the history of the plantation that was once on this site. Pack a picnic lunch, tables and drinks are on premises and enjoy!! All of our guests to Charleston have loved this attraction.
