My husband and I stayed at this beautiful inn on our way from Florida to Virginia. This was our second stay at this charming inn. We stayed the night after Christmas the first time, and the inn was decorated beautifully! We couldn't wait to stay there again. This visit was as wonderful as the first one. We were met in the driveway by Denley who was churning fresh ice cream for us. We met Ann once we were inside. She showed us to our room. The room was beautiful and clean. We had a great night sleep after having a bowl of homemade ice cream. Breakfast was very special and homemade. We were served banana bread, strawberry smoothies, the most delicious fluffy blueberry pancakes, and bacon, along with coffee and juice. We are looking forward to our next visit! Thank you Ann and Denley, you have a magic touch!

Denley and Ann Caughman are just the right hosts to make you feel like you are visiting old friends instead of staying at an Inn. The large yard and garden add to the experience. Do you have a six star rating?

Room Tip: This Inn is in a charming out of the way small SC town with lots and lots of trees. The ratings abov...

My wife and I spent two nights here recently at this very special, wonderful and amazing place. The innkeepers, Denley and Ann Caughman, are the most gracious and accommodating hosts you could expect or ask for. The house itself is a living history museum that immediately draws you in and makes you feel you've stepped back into time. Denley and Ann's love of the house and their service to their guests is palpable and puts you at ease as if you belong there as much as the owners do. At the same time, you are welcomed to roam around and experience all the property has to offer without feeling pressured to do so. If you do however, you will find yourself captivated by the deep and rich storied past of the previous residents and the area itself. Denley is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge who is remarkably approachable and whom you are able to engage at your pace and will.

One can choose to wander the house itself including the "personalities" and intricacies of each upstairs bedroom (each with its own bath) or the elaborate woodwork of the downstairs hall or -my personal favorite- the Marion Parlor! If you share a love of history, this is the place for you and Denley is your man! If not, you will absolutely fall in love with Ann's warm, southern hospitality and the quite retreat of the house and grounds themselves, including the gardens, and savor her delicious breakfasts she prepares at the time and manner of your choosing! A lot of the cooking is done on an actual wood stove! Both Denley and Ann have poured their blood, sweat and tears into the restoration of this place and live as though they are called to serve their guests and make available to them the fruits of their labor. Denley is also a master craftsman which you can witness first-hand at his Joinery a short walk down the path past the front door. He has actually made and reparied some of the furniture in the house itself! Denley and Ann both are the most humble, genuine people you will ever meet. For this reason alone you will wish they were a part of your own family because you will be treated as if you are theirs.

My wife and I both slept like babies and could have stayed in the room the whole time if we had chosen to, such was the comfort and intrigue and cleanliness of our surroundings. You have never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast unless you have experienced The Grove, the Inn on Harlee in Maron, SC. If you enjoy The Grove, you will also love the town it graces. Marion is a small, southern town equally rich in history and comfort. Ideally located, Marion is along the way to the coast of South Carolina and also a short drive to the city of Florence. Immersed in this enviornment, the only idle moments you will find are the quiet ones in your own heart as you experience peace and renewal of mind, body and spirit. There is no other bed and breakfast that deserves your time, than this exciting and unique place!

Room Tip: Any room you choose is excellent. We stayed in the "Brother's room" which is perfect...

We arrived at around 5 PM and were greeted by name at the door and welcomed in. The Innkeepers, Ann and Denley, were both cordial and warm, making us feel at home immediately. The Grove is a beautiful home, that has been lovingly restored by Denley and decorated by Ann. The location is indeed in a grove and has several out buildings one of which is the servant's quarters, where Denley stokes a wood stove and prepares a dish or two for the wonderful breakfast. The room we occupied was a innovative blend of modern conveniences such as cable TV/entertainment system, WiFi and a modern private bathroom. Denley is a craftsman of the highest order and has not only made repairs and replications of the mill work and furniture in his own shop but also tutors apprentices in the art as well. The Grove is a quiet and peaceful place away from hustle and bustle and provides a relaxing atmosphere both in the house and in its surrounding grounds where guests are free to wander. We would highly recommend this wonderful place and its gracious Inn Keepers to anyone. The epitome of Southern Hospitality and gracious living. You are bound to love every minute of your stay.

Room Tip: Call the Inn Directly as they only advertise this single room on the internet and they have several...

There is so much to tell about this lovely place, I don't know where to begin! Everything the website tells about is true and more. Just wait until you get here and eat one of the delicious breakfast and sleep in one of the beds, you will understand what a bed and breakfast is suppose to be like! I must warn you that this is a small town with a limited number of things to do. If you like to experience the art of doing nothing for a few days, this is the place. I plan to return and tell all my friends about The Grove.

Room Tip: You will have a problem with the choice. They are all good. They are actually redecorating a beautif...

My husband and I stayed at The Grove this past weekend for a romantic getaway and it exceeded our expectations. The owners, Denley and Ann, were wonderful hosts; it was true southern hospitality at it's best. The house is beautifully restored with so much of it's original history which was very interesting. The rooms are immaculate and the breakfast is outstanding! Denley and Ann have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I highly recommend this place, and will be returning very soon.

We read the reviews before heading to the Grove. With reviews like that (all outstanding) you can't help but expect something to fall a bit short. Not here... And certainly not with Ann & Denley, the Owners. The property is even more amazing than it shows online. The rooms are even better. And the experience created by the Owners is even better yet. Our only regret was not staying another night.

Upon arrival, Denley gave us a tour of the property and grounds, complete with historical facts and stories to enlighten. This was worth the trip in itself. This was one of the best tours I've had of a historical property, and from someone whom I know truly cares about preserving the history and authenticity of the home. They then gave us several recommendations for dinner, one which we selected that worked out well. Its only an 8 mile drive to the next town and we had a fantastic Prime Rib buffet dinner at O'Hara's. Other options were closer, but this sounded really good and was.

The following morning we received an exhibition of wood-stove cooking on a true antique but operation wood-stove in the Guest quarters. The breakfast served in the Parlor was outstanding.

While you might not find Marion itself to be a happening place, there is plenty to do in the near vicinity. We used this as our staging ground to enjoy a full day of kayaking on the Lynches River. Only 30 minutes away, we spent 5 hours on a spectacular picturesque river with "absolutely" no outside sounds (shorter trips are available). River otters, fish, birds, and the soothing sounds of the breeze flowing through the trees makes for a wonderful experience. If you're the outdoorsy type, I would highly recommend River Rat canoe and kayaking rentals. It is a great family operation that will make the kayak trip well worthwhile...

All in all, I would rank this at the top of B&B experiences. We will definitely be coming back, sooner rather than later...

Room Tip: Really liked the Brothers room. Great 2-person jetted tub.
