“Quiet, Scenic, Peaceful II”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

Just a note of gratitude to the management, as a follow-up to my review of February 2013 (below), for staying open this fall until 6 instead of 5. That last hour is special and very much appreciated. Thank you!

“Walk or bike the trails along the intercoastal waterway!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Almost on the North-South Carolina state line in Little River, S.C. is a free attraction that includes a few picnic tables (some covered), and easy walking or biking trails that lead through the moss-laden live oaks and coastal shrubs to lovely views of the intercoastal waterway. Near the entrance you'll pass by the Vereen Family Cemetery. Walk out to one of the viewing areas to step out onto the sand, wade in the water, watch the fishing and pleasure boats, or try catching a crab! Some trails are wood-constructed boardwalks; others are sand paths through the wooded areas. Watch the sawgrass bend in the breeze or sit in the sun (or the shade!) and just relax. Suitable for kid-strollers and for seniors as well. Porta-johns are located at the parking area; no other facilities of any kind, so bring your own snacks and water. It's a pretty nature trail in a peaceful environment, uncrowded for the most part (at least until after this review!).

“Back to Nature”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Nice little hidden gardens across from the SC Welcome Center on HWY 17 North of N. Myrtle Beach. Boardwalks over Salt Water Marshes and overlooks at the Intracoastal Waterway. Only had short time for visit, will come back next year for a longer visit.

“The only nature spot near Ocean Isle”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

Finally, we found a place near Ocean Isle that isn't developed with condos, multi-story beach houses or tourist shops and restaurants. Today, at low tide, I saw fiddler crabs mating, clams, mussels, oysters, lizards and a whole new landscape -- the salt marsh. Go there, do not even think twice. We're going tomorrow with our 80-year-old parents for a picnic. I would have foregone the beach and spent the entire time here if I had found it sooner.

“Beautiful place”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

Get in touch with our marshes and walk along the nature walks and boardwalks. See birds and other wildlife along the way. Head to the Intracoastal and fish or just sit and enjoy. You may spot a dolphin or two if you are lucky.
