Try the fried chicken and rice and gravy! The barbecue is good and there's always a selection of vegetables, salads and desserts. Shealy's has done a consistent job for over 30 years.

We are from the Lexington area and since Porky D's closed the best Bar-B-Que near is Shealy's. We have always loved coming. It is worth the drive for us. The Bar-B-Que is alway great, never over sauced. The hash is great also. All the vegis are good. I have never had anything from here that wasn't good. The fried chicken is fabulous.

As for the negative reviews, Shealy's is an example of good central SC Bar-B-Que. Some people just don't know a good thing. As for the Family style dining, it is a great change and lets you meet new people.

I really hate to travel over a couple of miles to eat ot BUT Shealy's is an exception. It is almost 35 miles one way and they are worth it.

The BBQ is well cooked, the fried chicken excellent and all the side dishes hot and tasty. They had Beef on Saturday and that was tender. If Chicken livers is your thing, they have them, yummy.

Nice deserts, fruit salad, ice cream and Banana pudding.

The staff are friendly and keep your drinks topped up.

A true Southern BBQ eatery. If you find yourself within 10 miles I suggest you try them Value for the money (all you can eat)...

Contrary to the local's view of this food kitchen, I would still have been disappointed with the food if at had only cost 50 cents! Even the raved Fried Chicken is nothing more than overly salted greasy chicken with no flavoring.

Eat all you can for around $8 usually attracts either the greedy or those on a real tight budget. I was invited by friends to join them for dinner at Shealy's as it was supposed to be a great example of Southern Bar-B-Que eating. I couldn't have been more disappointed.

The tables pushed together in rows reminded me of a German beer festival, the bright and cheerful service was encouraging. However the tasteless array of food, high salt and huge fat content is something which would ensure the hit TV show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" would never visit Shealy's.

Guy Fieri, presenter of the above TV show has featured numerous diners across the south including North and South Carolina with rave reviews of some of the best. I encourage those who rate Shealy's to actually search on the food network for the establishments reviewed in South Carolina and drive around tasting reality.

Shealy's Pros = Enthusiastic staff (excluding cashier); Cheap cheap cheap
Shealy's Pros = Tasteless fair; overcooked vegetables; buffet style homeless shelter feel; not worth the fuel to drive there; cheap cheap cheap

This is the second time I have visited Shealy's. The first time was my mistake by eating too much, and left very uncomfortable, due eating far too much. My second visit was approached differently, the selection of vegetables were good and tasty. I enjoyed both styles of BBQ pork. Fried chicken was crispy and moist. If you dare after the buffet, there is a salad and dessert buffet as, well. I enjoyed my one trip to the buffet, and skipped the salads and desserts.
