This is what the consummate lodging and dining experience should be. Mike and Patty are superb hosts and the manor is supremely comfortable. Southern hospitality at its best! Wish we had stayed longer than 2 days! Next time! Highly recommended!

What a great place, starting with the greeting in the front hall, to the goodbyes. Service, food and atmosphere were fantastic. Friendly staff are there to cater to your needs. Nice smiles, good conversation and helpful hints about the area. Rooms were all decorated nicely, quite and well maintained. Turn down service, candy and beverages waiting each evening. Truly a delight. Carole, our hostess, did an excellent job of making us feel welcomed, and handled any of our needs. This has received my highest rating given in my years of writing reviews.

Room Tip: The front rooms get a lot of sun, I stayed in the Red room in the back, and it was great.

While planning a road trip we decided to avoid the generic interstate interchange hotels and after doing some research decided to give the Abingdon a try. Mike and Patty could not have been more hospitable. The Red Room was very comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed our dinners and breakfast and even the lunch they prepared ($10.00) for us for the next days travel. For anyone travelling I95 between the Northeast and points south this is a great alternative as it is only 6 or 7 miles off I95. We will return.

Room Tip: They are all good so go to their website and pick the one you like. There are only 7.

There is no where in a 50 mile radius of Florence that has better food. This is real fine dining, not the 'let's-pretend-and-do-it-on-the-fly' fine dining. Every course was perfect. The inn is true to the period and not overdone. Very impressive.

My family and I just spent three nights in the most beautiful turn of the century mansion. The accommodations were very comfortable as well as luxurious. The owners, Mike and Patty went out of their way to welcome us and take care of our every need. Champagne and chocolates were awaiting us in our beautifully appointed suite on our first night. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious. I had poached egg with lemon chive sauce that was incredible! My grandson had his pot of hot chocolate every morning and talked about it the rest of the day. There was a rubber duck on the side of the bath tub that my grandson enjoyed so much that I've had to find one for him. Can't say enough nice things about our stay. Definately worth the drive from I-95; you won't be disappointed.

For travelers along Rt. 95 headed to Florida, a convenient stopping point is Latta, South Carolina, just over the boarder from North Carolina. There one will find the Abingdon Manor Inn. My wife and I have stopped there twice on our trips to Florida and each time we have been warmly greeted by Michael, one of the owners. The Inn is beautifully maintained and so inviting. The rooms are large and modern yet retain their original southern charm. Snacks and soft drinks available throughout the day in a common area. The owners of the Inn, Michael and Patty, are also the innkeepers and their pride in their property and joy in sharing the beauty of the Inn and grounds are evident from the moment of arrival to one’s regretful departure. Patty is the chef and the meals she prepares are equal to those in the best restaurants. We have frequented many B&B’s, across the country and we rank Abingdon Manor among the very best. It is a required stay for us as we travel between Florida and Maryland. Properties that carry the Relais and Chateau name have nothing on Abingdon Manor.

Room Tip: There is no swimming pool, sorry.

My wife and I have been taking cooking classes for our anniversary for many years. This year we found a place on the Internet that was only three hours away from home. It looked interesting. Small, intamate and only six people per class (only seven rooms). The web-site showed only two spaces left so I called immediately and reserved two nights and the class. We arrived at three in the afternoon in time to haave our massages; one Swedish and one deep muscle, both done by Rebecca. This certainly set the stage for the evening coacktail party with the other guests in the "mens parlor"(women allowed and they have a womens parlor across the hall). Then into the dining room (sun porch for the cooking class students) for the pre set dinner menu. Food was fantascic and served with grace and at a Southern pace which gave us time to drink our bottle of bubbly at a liesurely pace. Michael and Patty are two of the most gracious and interesting people we have ever met. You immediately felt like part of the family. Our room (the Green Room) on the second floor overlooked the expansive lawn and gardens. LArge king size bed and first class bathroom. This early 1900 home has the character of that era, but all of the nicessities we are used to.
The cooking class started at ten AM. Patty and Chef Jeff laid out the plan of action for the morning session and the afternoon session. When we finished at four PM, we were all tired and thirsty and ready to eat what we had prepared. Cocktails at 7 PM and dinner at 7:30 PM. After consuming the fruits of our labor, it was decided that we all passed the final exam. Breakfassts were included on Saturday and Sunday and are not to be missed. Se were sorry to have to leave on Sunday (with a full tummy), but promised ourselves that we would be back soon.

Cudos to Mike and Patty and all their staff. This establishment deserves ther great rating that it has. Thank you all!! BonJ

Room Tip: Everyone of the seven rooms are great. I believe there is only one room on the first floor if stairs...
