“Don't drive by this place!”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

Each time we visit family in Tryon/Columbus we drive by Stone Soup and tell ourselves we will eat here next time. Well, this time we did and we are so sorry it took us this long to stop. The service is friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is horse country warm and the food is wonderful. Menu items are prepared with local ingredients and changes every other month or so, depending on what is seasonal. We started with She Crab Soup (delicious) and tried the Shrimp and Grits Provencal (again delicious) and bone-in pork chops with housemade chutney and ratatouille (great!). So, if you are visiting the southwestern North Carolina area or the northwestern South Carolina area, do stop here and enjoy a terrific meal. They also offer brunch on Sundays!

“Great place to eat in Landrum SC!”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

I have been going to Stone Soup for years and find it to be the best places to enjoy a great meal in this area! Meals are made fresh and with good ingredents. They try to support local farms as much as they can. I do not mind paying for a good meal!

“Wonderful meal as well as first class service”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

I had the best trout that I have ever had. The rest of the family loved their dinner as well. We have a B&B in town and recommend to our guests. They always return with glowing reports. Highly recommend.

“A little gem in Landrum”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

The atmosphere is very relaxed, sort of Bohemian. The food is very good with some unusual flavors. The pork tenderloin rolled in coffee grounds was surprisingly tasty.

“11 people overwhelmed this nice place”
Reviewed June 13, 2012

Most of our group liked their meals quite a lot. Photos of horses and riders cover the walls and give it a nice touch. The manager (owner?) was quite eager to please and our waitress was also very earnest and kind. The menu was varied with lots of fresh choices. the problems were with organization and information. The wine list was inaccurate and not updated. The kitchen was a little overwhelmed with 11 dishes and plates came out over a long period of time. Accuracy of orders was a bit hit or miss and my pork loin was quite underdone at first. This is probably a lovely choice of restaurant for a couple or family. Nice atmosphere. Friendly.

We're so glad you enjoyed your meals with us! We apologize that your pork was slightly undercooked and promptly removed the plate and sent out a properly cooked pork. Perhaps you were unaware (thankfully so since we strive to provide attentive service and cook everything to order) of the group of 20 on the other side of the restaurant. Unfortunately the other party was 25 minutes late for their reservation and both parties were sat at the same time. We typically space out reservations of larger groups in order to provide the best possible dining experience. While you were dining additional tables were also sat. Please be assured a group of 11 would not overwhelm us. We apologize for the changes of vintage on the wine list and have updated our list. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. Thank you for joining us and we hope to see you again soon!
