“Best steak in Staffs”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Tuesday night is two steaks and a bottle of wine for £24, you do not expect greatness but this place delivered and then some. The steak was aged, seasoned, cooked and rested to perfection. The plate was laden with fresh salad, mushrooms, a tomato and best of all proper chips made from potatoes, not frozen rubbish.
There is a board telling you where all the meats and fish have come from (all local and well regarded suppliers/ butchers), the restaurant also offers gluten free dining.
Duncan the manager is friendly and welcoming, the staff (particularly the young lady with long gorgeous curly hair) are helpful, warm and hard working.
The venue is clean, warm, tastefully decorated, has plenty of space and a good atmosphere, families are made to feel welcome. This is the best pub in the Alrewas/ Kings Bromley/ Barton under Needwood area.

“Regular visits tell their own story”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

As a regular visitor to the Royal Oak, I can recommend it. By the way the website you'll find via a search engine like Google (ther are others) is well out of date. So this information here, is more up to date. You'll be greeted by a large car park which is always a good starting point. The regular and guests ales from the Marston stable are always well-served and you'll get a full pint - no short serving here! Duncan and his team are working really hard at the Oak. He has updated the menus, and they're not small sized. Yes, on ocassions delivery can be a little slow but that gives you more time to enjoy the atmosphere whether its downstairs or upstairs. There's a group called Fiirst Friday who meet here (guess when?) and have saved this pub from closure which is another plus point. There's also a choice of deserts and like the starters and mains are made with fresh local ingredients. Will we see you at the Oak soon?

“Much improved”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

Used to visit quite often until it went downhill, so a couple of months ago decided to give it another try as had heard it had changed hands.
Enjoyed our visit, food was good and plentiful, the only criticism really is that the menu is a bit limited, there is a specials board but both this and the main menu don't seems to change very often.
