Stayed here for 4 days last summer and it was amazing. Food was delicious, service impeccable and the room was beautiful and luxurious. The grounds were breathtaking and the pool with a view of the ocean and drink service was perfect. The hotel sits right on the beach. I opted not to play golf (i am a terrible golfer) but instead booked a massage treatment at the spa which was a great choice. Overall, this hotel was probably one of the best I have ever stayed in. It was the epitome of luxury and I would come back in a heartbeat. I also had a chance to stay at the villas which are nice and great for families, but nowhere near as nice as the hotel itself.

My husband and I just returned from our Anniversary Celebration at Kiawah. It was wonderful! The Sanctuary is an elegant hotel with all the amenities and more that one would expect with AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Four Star ratings. Our king room had a good ocean view and we enjoyed having our continental breakfast on the balcony each morning. As a special anniversary retreat, we returned from dinner to find the bed turned down with rose petals in a heart shape and plush robes gracefully positioned on the bed. A romantic touch! We really loved the huge beach and beautiful swimming pool area, with the adult infinity pool. Being golfers, we golfed one day at the Turtle Point Golf Course and found it had plenty of challenge. We especially liked the golf holes along the ocean. Dining options are many from casual to more fine dining. It is a magnificent hotel with plenty of activities for couples, families or golfers.

We booked the Sanctuary for 4 nights for a very special birthday and were definitely not disappointed. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We played golf on the Ocean course which was amazing although very hot! Would love to go back next year but would go in April/May or October -

My husband and I took a quick trip to Kiawah and were so sad to leave after three days at the Sanctuary!

We ate at Jasmine Porch for breakfast, by the pool for lunch, the BBQ place at Osprey Point and Tomasso...in addition we had a drink at the Ryder Cup Bar.

Every single experience was exceptional. We particularly loved our time by the pool...Collin and Michael are the BEST! The adult pool is key! It was so nice, calm and quiet! I had naps and plenty of uninterrupted reading time.

Our Oceanfront room was beautiful, quiet and very comfortable. I slept so well and caught up on my sleep!

The Sanctuary is an exceptional resort...it is truly one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. The cost is considerable to stay here, but it is worth every penny.

For people who say it isn't worth it, I wonder what they expect at this price? A personal butler? Someone to feed you?

My husband and I are already planning a trip back this year and will definitely start contributing to the Kiawah Island vacation home fund...we fell in love with the island and find it much more appealing than Hilton Head, our former South Carolina favorite.

This Hotel is an amazing hotel with NO flaws. We just returned, on Tuesday, from our five- day amazing trip to the Kiawah Island Sanctuary Resort. Let me start of with the service. The workers there were very helpful and friendly. They definitely knew what they were doing. Even at the poolside restaurant they were quick considering how many people were there. They could've been a little quicker but they were fast because of how much they had to take care of.

The rooms are great and they have wonderful feather mattress beds. The pillows are great because its hard to sleep at night without a good pillow. The rooms were also really pretty and we had a nice view of the ocean- they gave us an upgrade! The only thing that I wasn't so crazy about was the fact that the bathroom didn't have a lock and there was two shutters in front of the tub that could easily be opened. You really had to make sure that everyone knew you were in the bathroom and you needed privacy. Other than that the bathrooms were very spacious with great appliances, except for the shower. The main nozzle to the shower had no pressure at all so I would always had to use the 2nd nozzle which had great pressure. But that is because that was how the shower was made, not because it is warn out or old. Overall an amazing comfy room!

The beaches were litter free and hardly had any seaweed. The beach did have some dead jellyfish but hey, its the ocean! The chairs were super comfy and very relaxing. We loved the waves in the ocean! The pool was great as well and very fun to play in. Overall we had a fantastic time!

We also did enjoy the bikes that we got at the hotel. The trails were beautiful and we loved riding on the beach. What a great workout! Overall you don't need to play golf to enjoy this hotel and its amazing features. we are FOR SURE going again next year!

This was our fourth trip to the Sanctuary, and, in previous years, we have loved it, despite the expense, which is considerable. This time, however, we were not as thrilled with our experience. Yes, everyone who works there is unfailingly polite and friendly, and, yes, the location is truly amazing, but the high standards the hotel had set for itself are starting to slide. First, our room (ocean-view and priced accordingly!) looked faded and in need of renovation. Second, the restaurant (Jasmine Porch) at dinner time, was surprisingly inefficient, despite being less than half-full both times we ate there. The first night we were kept waiting over half an hour between the appetizer and the main course, only to be presented with the wrong entrees. By this time, we were so hungry we ate what they gave us. To their credit, the restaurant did not charge us for the entrees, but still, for the price and the reputation, you expect to be given what you had ordered, and reasonably quickly. The second time we ate there, they got the order right, but again it took a huge amount of time to be served in a room that was about one-third full. Both times, the food was tasty, but not mind-blowing.
Other signs of slipping standards: rental bikes that were not maintained - rusty, squeaky and under-inflated tires; beach chairs that looked in need of replacement. You get the picture.
To their credit, the meal at the Atlantic Room at the golf-course, was excellent and the waitress, Ashley, one of the most professional we have come across.
But, for the expense, we came away feeling that we hadn't received vaule for money, and, for the first time, we wondered if we'd ever return.

Room Tip: Partial ocean view in the North building.

Our family trip to Kiawah Island is one that will never be forgotten! The room, restuarants, service and golf courses were top notch. This is a true 5 star hotel. There was not a person at the resort who didn't go out of their way for us. The southern hospitality was evident at every spot on the resort. I would highly recommend this hotel and all of it's golf course. Expensive, yes, worth evry penny, absolutely!!
