I think the bulk of reviews are quite accurate. It is expensive. (They nickle and dime everything here. I mean toast is $4. You could buy multiple loaves for this price. Come on Kiawah, lower those food prices.. a bit outrageous! I think they need to provide more free activities included in the price, for the rate they charge). That being said, it was marvelous!

Not only are the accomodations at The Sanctuary and landscape gorgeous, but the beach was everything you could want in a beach. Spotlessly clean (I mean even any sea junk), Chairs, towels, water and beach umbrellas are set up for you on the beach. There is flat wet sand for building sand castles.

And the pools.... there is an adult pool, family pool, tiny tots pool that is only 1 foot deep, and a super fun kiddie pool with activities in it.

It is worth the price. So wonderful we considered extending our vacation.

Room Tip: Splurge on the ocean view.

10th stay here, as always, it was fantastic. Accommodations, service and the beauty of the Hotel brings us back year after year. Golf is great, my wife likes the beach and pool and after a round at the Ocean course, meets me for drinks afterward at the Ryder Cup bar located there. Probably the best setting for drinks or light dinner anywhere. Other golf courses are great as well. Pricey...yes, but given the setting, the hotel is worth it.

the condo units area OK, but the furniture in the condo that I was in and that of and associates were 1980 vintage with faded couches and bedspreads. It was obvious that you were renting someones condo. the towels were also rather ragged at times. On the other hand, you can sleep 4-5 in a 1 bedroom unit, and the transportation and grounds are excellent.

It truly makes you chose where you belong the haves or have nots. The Sanctuary is amazing elegant aloof and more expensive than the expensive Kiawah.
the villas I stayed in were dated and tired. The unit as several others were for sale.
to be fair Kiawah has a drearier atmosphere because of the foliage. Environmentally it is probably better to protect the island but makes the villas dark.
the beach is great for families wide sweeping areas that are shallow.
the pools are for designated by the villa you are staying in. The children's pool is marvelous.

Room Tip: Stay at eh Sanctuary if you have the money.

Kiawah Island is so amazingly lovely, and our Villa was very nice. Cozy bed, (plus another room with 2 single beds & ensuite), well stocked kitchen, fluffy towels, and amazing ocean views from 2 balconies. Transportation shuttles are excellent, and staff can not do enough for you. Some renovations are needed, but very minor. We would stay here again for sure!

If you're looking for a place to host a business event, Kiawah is it! We hosted top producers from within and outside of the company, and from the time we arrived to the time we departed the resort staff took care of everything. Our group stayed in the Villa's and we received numerous positive comments about how nice they were. Food, golf, event management, facitilites were all 5 starts!

our large group of golfers descended upon kiawah island in april. there were over a hundred of us. the resort put us in a variety of villas, which we compared at length during our golf and social events. we two stayed in a nicely kept older unit owned by a couple who had decorated it with monkey-themed art and some pictures of themselves and their friends. there was no impersonal hotel feel at all. we felt as though we were staying in the vacation home of friends of friends. all the amenities were in place and we enjoyed the screened in sun room looking out to the trees, the tv, wifi, and kitchen. daily maid service left us feeling pampered in the bargain. we loved the staff. we loved the golf. the food was wonderful. we will be back. this is just a great place.
