Just spent four days enjoying Charleston with girlfriends and Wild Dunes Boardwalk Inn was one of the best places I've ever stayed! We love the beach and because it is so close to the city we had the perfect mix of enjoying Charleston and the serenity of an ocean front hotel. Great pools, spotless accommodations and a wonderful friendly staff. We didn't even have good weather but we had great fun! I can't comment on the condos but the Boardwalk Inn was wonderful. Go!

Wild Dunes is really great (and very well known) -- so the best time to go is off-season. Less people; less hassle. The staff is more than accommodating and if you're not happy -- they'll fix it.
We rented a four bedroom house and it was more than enough room for eight people -- and right on the boardwalk to the pavilion, beach & hotel. Just don't plan on making any noise outside after 10:30 PM. The neighbors frown on it and you'll get reported!

Room Tip: Four bedroom houses are more than enough for 12 people!

My family and I recently rented a 3 bedroom condo at Shipwatch in Wild Dunes. The first place we reserved we were denied. The resort manager claimed the owner needed to access his place during our stay, so they were moving us. Our condo was more than spacious, but the place needed a deep clean. It was old, poorly decorated and only one of the TVs (out of 4) actually had a picture on it. The Wild Dunes staff finally completed a clean on our 3rd and last night there. It took a lot of prodding to get this done. The resort itself is very nice, lush, and the Lettered Olive was delcious. I just wouldnt recommend staying in the condo we were in. It just didn't live up to its price. Kevin, one of the managers was the best point of contact for any problems. He was professional and very prompt. My advice.......try to find out all you can before booking this resort. You could wind up with a crappy condo like we did.

Room Tip: Take a virtual tour of your place before committing.....

This is an extremely densely developed report on the ocean. Golf, tennis, boats, it's all there but packed in tight. We were there with a convention and got stuck in the overflow rooms...quiet, but just average for a hotel room, and not worth the very high rates we were paying. Charleston is a pretty good hike away, for sightseeing and the like, but if you have a car it is acceptable. If you want to be somewhere near the ocean, and can put up with the crowds, this place is okay, but that's about it.

Was with a group for a convention in Charleston, and wanted to play the Dunes West course, but it was booked for an outing. We played the Harbor Course, which was much more challenging. The link style layout had plenty of hazards, but the pristine condition of the course, along with a great pro shop staff, food and beverages on the course, and attentive and courteous Marshall and pros made for a great day!

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn for 2 nights on a quick weekend visit with teenage daughter. Got a surprise upgrade to a pool view room with a balcony so that was a great start. It's not a true ocean view as many have mentioned but I found the lush landscaping and 'boardwalk stroll' to the beach very pleasant. The property is older but still in excellent condition and definitely has the resort feel which greatly contributed to that feeling of relaxation. No worries about needing to go off property for anything as there were lots of options for shopping and dining close at hand. I definitely hope to return for a girls weekend or romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms also face the boardwalk so has a view to lots of activity.
