We had a beautiful king room with a view of the pool. Since it is January the hotel was quiet. We got up early the first morning and had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The manager explained there was a "rough" spot on the hardwood floor near the bar and they would be doing some sanding and polishing. I was surprised they did not tend to maintenance during the off time. Our room was clean, but the rug is very worn. The person who checked us into the hotel did mention that the rooms were being updated floor by floor so I am sure this will be remedied by the high season. My biggest complaint was that the complimentary robes were dirty and used. Also the second day, the room was not replenished with clean glasses, cups and coffee packets. There was not tea either. The coffee pot was not cleaned either. I did speak to Curry at the front desk and he apologized for the inconvenience. A few minutes later a bottle of wine and glasses were delivered to the room as a gift which was very much appreciated. The only other thing that I found bothersome was there was a comment made at the time of check-in regarding the special rate I received online. Other than asking for an upgrade or something unreasonable, there should never be any reference to the rate paid. My original preference was to stay in Charleston, but the rate was so good, I could not pass it by. Another plus is the parking is free and in the city it costs at least $20.00 per day. That was definitely a plus. The hotels restaurant is very pricey. For eggs, toast and coffee the bill was almost $30.00 for two.

We extended our business trip three days to stay longer at this resort and have a mini-vacation. This resort is beautiful, the restaurant staff, front desk, and valets were beyond helpful. It is not only great for business and conferences, it's a great family vacation destination as well. We'll be back for certain.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view room.

I stayed here as part of a large group for a meeting and enjoyed myself immensely. I had a hard time trying to decide what overall rating to give it as there were a lot of great things and a few detriments, most notably tired rooms and furniture beyond the lobby, and a view consisting mostly of the backs and roofs of the condo development between it and the beach. Even from the top floor you are looking at the beach through gaps between the 7 rows of buildings. Still, I went with a four star rating since there was evidence that they were redoing rooms a hallway at a time and despite the fact that it is behind the condos it is still a nice property, well run with a friendly staff.
My room was large, and while the furniture was tired and the carpet looking worn out, it was very comfortable with a good bed, good sound and light blocking and a small but decent bathroom.
The beach is reached via a 1000 ft boardwalk running between the condos to an ocean side pavilion and there are two pools. This would probably be a great place to bring your kids.
For me, the real winner here was the food. Most of our meals were arranged through the resort’s Food and Beverage office and each one was fantastic. A lot of time banquet meals in a hotel leave a lot to be desired, but our eggs at breakfast tasted cooked to order, the chicken at lunch was superb and our chairman raved about the filet served at dinner, saying it was one of his top five ever, high praise from someone who lives in Europe and dines out in some great places. When we stopped in to the lobby bar we discovered that their small dining area was filled with locals who raved about the food, so while I never really tried one of the restaurants, I would still recommend staying on property for dinner, based on the obvious expertise of their food and beverage staff.
An added bonus is that the valet parking is free, and the valet lot is inside, under the hotel so it is quicker to get your valet car than it is to walk to the self service lot when you’re ready to leave. Worth the buck or two tip.
The bottom line is this is a great place to stay, not as luxe as the ads might imply but still very nice; and once there, you can leave the car parked and just enjoy yourself.

Room Tip: An ocean view doesn't exist so try for a corner room, lots of light and very spacious

We stayed in a one bedroom suite and loved it. The room was very clean and they had a crib set up for our baby. My husband and I put the kids to bed and ordered room service, which was very good. We walked up to the beach and really enjoyed the view. We can't wait to go back when the weather gets warmer. We will be coming to Wild Dunes a lot in the future for family trips.

We visited Isle of Palms this past weekend and not only were we blown away by the amazing views that the hotel had to offer (in the middle of winter!), but also by the outstanding guest service!

We booked a corner room at the Boardwalk Inn, the hotel in the center of the resort. Upon arrival at the gate we were greeted by a very friendly female guard who took our names and gave us a pass that allowed us access in the resort. I wasn't expecting such quick access but it was like she was anticipating our arrival. When we pulled up at the Boardwalk Inn, a bellman opened the door to the car for me and assisted with our bags. The complimentary valet was great!!! It was very easy to call down to the desk and let them know we would be leaving shortly. Our car was in front of the Inn every time we called for it without delay!

The front desk staff at the Inn is top notch. Alex was very cheerful as she checked us into the hotel, and happened to be a native to the area we were visiting from! From the housekeepers to the valets, everyone at the resort greeting us with a smile and all were concerned with how our stay at the resort was going.

The room we stayed in was very spacious and clean, and had a private balcony. I recommend purchasing a room with a balcony! We enjoyed sitting on it in the mornings while having a cup of coffee.

A few great places to visit in the area: Poe's Tavern on Sullivan's Island (great burgers!), The Sea Island Grill at Wild Dunes (highly recommend breakfast here!), and Red's Icehouse on Shem Creek (great bar/restaurant on the creek with live music).

I will definitely be visiting the Charleston area again and plan to stay at Wild Dunes for its serenity, friendly faces and all around great atmosphere!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are very large and have a balcony!
