This used to be our favorite restaurant on Hilton Head Island.....been going here since 2003......The view, the food, the ambience and staff was awesome.......Now the staff is unable to handle the volume that this place attracts(from the seating to the kitchen to the customer service from all especially the servers.) The food has changed light years from when Franz was involved, all for the bad......Monday, April 14th, I called for reservations for 7, (4 Adults, 3 well behaved children 10, 6 & 4.) Asked for window table and explained my wife had back surgery and confirmed the lift worked outside. Lady confirmed reservation!!! Wait was short, lady at podium was awful ... we were seated at a table that would fit 4 in comfort......asked to be seated at a bigger table......taken to a table in the bar (not a place for young children.) Finally seated in a nice area just past the kitchen that was great for space.....All the while my wife having to use her walker to maneuver the crowded restaurant!!!!! .Service was slow (took an hour to get the first part of main course.) After six of us were served in increments of two, the 10 year old's food was missing!!!! My Cod and Shrimp combo must have sat in the window (not even close to hot.) The young man's Junior Shrimp came finally!!!! My wife's 6oz Fillet had great flavor, but had the texture and flavor of a Pot Roast Chunk with Mushroom Gravy!!!! Our Guests enjoyed their Oysters and Scallops. The kid's drink machine was broken, so they had to settle for Pink Lemonade!!!! We were there for two hours and did not enjoy our meal or the ambience (noise level was awful!) Spoke to management and other personnel about how displeased we were, especially with the seatings. Male server seemed IN THE WEEDS!!!
Really miss Chef Franz, Jessica(off that day), Michelle, Manager Phil and all the great servers OOF used to have. Won't be going back!!!
