While this condo only has a slight view of the ocean from the balcony, the condo itself is beautiful, clean, spacious and comfortable inside out. The decorating in blues and tans brought the ocean indoors. Quiet surroundings, landscaping well done, and while Building 3 is a few minute walk to the beach and pool, it was an easy and pretty walk (or bike ride as we rented bikes too). Hot tub was not hot but pool was comfortable. Well maintained. Beach is amazing and beach bike riding is the thing to do! Be prepared for the fees to access anything but your own gated community in Hilton Head.

First Hilton Head is a beautiful vacation spot and an amazing spot for a wedding. Villamare is well located between the Omni and the Marriott just inside the South Gate to Palmetto Dunes. Beach is fabulous and the condo has great ocean views from every room. 3133 is perfect for six people with three BR and 3 baths. Management company is pleasant but when we checked in three lights were burned out and it took 2 calls to get them addressed. Unit is a bit dated

Over 25 years we have stayed in 4 different villa communities in Palmetto Dunes and this is by far the best! The unit 3524 was just renovated! All new furniture and appliances! It's been a year since last stay but the whole complex has been renovated and painted. It has a huge outdoor pool with several levels of decking, hot tub, kids pool, firepit and grilling area. The fitness building has an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and weight room. There is a garage for parking and storing bikes. (bike rental is about a block away as is a general store) The beach is beautiful and hard packed for biking but soft for playing and sunning. The water isn't super clear but the waves are good for body surfing. There are great restaurants all over the island. Movie theatres and mini golf places round out our list of things to do. This is our favorite place to come!

I read most of the reviews already written here, and thought I would add my 2 cents for people who are looking for a longterm rental location on Hilton Head.

For the past 5 years, my retired parents have stayed at the Villamare Villas from December until March, and they love it. As a retired couple, this place has all the amenities for renting and none of the hassle of owning. The winter is the "off season", so prices are very reasonable. They are able to rent a third floor two bedroom oceanfront condo for less then $2000 a month, which is an excellent price for the location.

The Villamare is the only non-hotel resort on the island that has an indoor, heated pool. If you have grandchildren who like to swim, this is important. There is always an attendent on staff in the pool area, but here is a secret - her main duty is to keep out gatecrashers. You heard that right. So many people have tried to sneak into the heated indoor pool, they have to post an attendent to keep them out! And yes, the older residents of Villamare can be grumpy about "their" pool. There are organized pool exercises that are pre-scheduled; if you pay attention to the schedule, you can just avoid the pool during those few hours and then no one will give you a sour face.

For retired folks, there are organized "Ladies luncheons" where they go out in the community and sample different restaurants, as well as a variety of social events. The resort is within walking distance of several large, 5 star hotels so if you want a drink at a nice bar, or want to enjoy a fire pit or a good restaurant, it is all within walking distance. Alexander's restaurant is within walking distance, and they have she-crab soup and martinis to die for.

They are bicycles to rent for $25 a month, plus walking trails and the grounds are well kept.

One thing about Villamare is that the condos are privately owned, but use rental agencies to organize rentals. 13-week rentals are given priority above all others, and every single condo is available to view online. Some owners keep their condos in better shape then others, so it pays to do a little legwork to see which one suits your needs. Being an island, moisture and mold can be a problem, so look for condos that have dehumidifiers and maintain their heating/cooling vent systems in good condition.

All in all, my parents love this place and keep returning every year. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: There are tall trees that can block your ocean view, so if a view of the water is important to you make sure you know in advance if your room has a partial or minimal view.

This is a beautiful, well-maintained property. Literally, right on the beach, with great views, beautiful grounds and very roomy condos. It is also in Palmetto Dunes, considered to be among the best communities on the Island. Try Barnacle Bills fish market for the freshest fresh catch you've ever had. Get there before 3 and wait in line if you have to--it's worth it. We will be back to Villamare!

Room Tip: Select Building 1 or 3, preferably floors 3-5.
