Description: We are a dark cramped restaurant located in a strip mall in Coligny Plaza. Our music loud, the lighting uncomfortably low ,making it hard to read your menu, large taper candles provide minimal illumination and drip on your table. The staff will explain our dishes and ingredients in excruciating detail, and outdoor seating is in a parking lot with a view of NOTHING. Service is sub standard on a good night and our food ordinary at best. If this sounds appetizing then we would love you to join us for a memorable culinary journey. Our Chefs have lived throughout the world, our 400+ bottle wine list is almost all small boutique and rated wines. We work as a team and take pride in meeting and exceeding every guests expectation. Dress is club casual and no children under 14 PS we are not an Italian Restaurant!!

“lovely dinner, challenge to secure reservation”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

This was a girls' weekend dinner in Hilton Head. Although securing a weekend reservation took some doing, it was worth it. The setting is small and intimate, jazz was playing when we were seated. The venue is dimly lit with candles. The menu is superb. We shared duck, beet salads, orzo and vegetables etc which were all wonderful. Our waitress, Audrey, was attentive and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant for couples and small (under 6 persons) adult dinners. No children under 14 allowed.

“Great Food - Overpriced”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

This was our first restaurant stop once we arrived in Hilton Head. We were pretty astonished to be able to get a table outside on a Saturday night without a reservation. We were prepared for the higher prices, but will have to agree with other posters, that sitting right next to the parking lot, does not really lend to the high end ambiance, although the neighborhood kitty was very cute. We had the scallop special and the truffle pasta, and while it was very good, I cannot go any higher than 3 stars since I feel the price point does not match the experience.

Yet another casualty for the three star crowd! "Great food-overpriced"? How is truly great food ever overpriced? Maybe its the $49.00 paid for the fresh truffles flown in from Italy that would cost you a mere $120.00 in New York, or perhaps the giant U6 scallops for $36.00, which you can't even find anywhere--go figure!

And we apologize for building the parking lot while you were dining, it obviously was not there before you were seated for you to make comment.

To everyone else, Please come join us for the worst experience that 36 three star reviewers ever had!

“Romantic & Delicious!”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

My husband and I walked up on a Friday night and although we had no reservation, we were seated within 20 minutes in the romantic outdoor area. There was beautiful live music and the service was excellent. The wine list was the best we've seen on the island. The owner mingles with customers and greets and sends everyone off. He was attentive and welcoming with a glass of wine in his hand. It was so nice to see! He was relaxed and proud of his restaurant - as he should be!
We ordered the green salad and a special beet cobbler to start. The beet cobbler was phenomenal with goat cheese, macerated strawberries and marscapone! I'll be thinking about it for a long time! They just ran out of the special sea bass which sounded superb, but we ended up sharing the grouper and U8 scallops. Everything was absolutely delicious. When our server found out we were on our honeymoon, we got a dessert on the house and complimentary proseco. We chose the bacon sundae with maple syrup - it was really interesting and well executed. It was creamy and savory and very enjoyable. This will likely be remembered as our favorite meal of our trip to Hilton Head Island.

“The Best”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

I 100% agree with the review written by Rose...the freshness, the unique and creative food and presentation doesn't get any better than this. The Osso Buco is amazing, and fall off the bone tender. The duck confit tart with goat cheese was stellar with an amazing combination of flavors. The wine list is long and varied and the Malbec we chose beautifully complimented the food. The personalized menu for my husbands birthday shows the attention to detail and made for a nice memento of the evening. Another perfect evening at The Vine.

“Ying and Yang”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

We were wowed....and that ain't easy....
The reason for the title is that I loved the juxtaposition of flavors and preparations that the chef put together to create outstanding dishes. For instance the beet/strawberry salad with fried goat cheese, marscarpone and some well aged balsamic! The sweet strawberry, the tangy roast beets the freshness of the marscarpone with the tartness of the goat cheese!
Then there was the confit.....same idea here with duck tongue and pork shank...savory fat preserved meat with a the sweet acid tang of the coleslaw!
The veal chop....was the best I have ever had only if I had it to do over again I would have gotten the mushroom gravy on the side.
The fresh mixed berry dessert was YUMMY!

Enough said....go there and dine.....enjoy the beatnik atmosphere and relax!
