If you're looking for historical lighthouses, then keep looking. But this is a cute lighthouse designed to be a tourist stop with nice views of the ocean, the 18th green at Harbour Town and the marina. The are 114 steps up and they are busy with people going up and down, but the observation deck is peaceful. It's largely a gift shop in the sky, but it's a good place to see views if the area.

Since our kids were young, we always take them to Harbour Town and let them climb to the top and enjoy the view. Although not a real lighthouse just fun to go to the top......

I have been to this area of Hilton Head twice before, but this time we went at night. It was so much better and pleasant. Not so hot. Full moon. People strolling. Looking at the BIG boats tied up. Outdoor live music and open bars. Worth doing after a day at the beach.

I have climbed many lighthouses over the years. This one is has educational materials on each landing. This gives anyone who is winded an easy excuse to catch their breath. Some who have problems with heights may be okay with Harbourtown's 114 steps, as each staircase is enclosed with a half-wall. The $3.75 fee is modest considering the excellent maintenance.

While we've been going to HHI for 5 years now, this year was the first time we went to Harbor Town. We've not been able previous years because we didn't want to go there whilst the Pro Golf Tour was there.

We went to the upscale shops and were pleasantly surprised at the sales, which made merchandise more affordable. The entire town is based around the golf course and so it's just pristeen! Outdoor restaurants are roomy and friendly. The food was incredible!

The lighthouse is visible from many places, but it is worth the time to go and visit it itself. Not so large as to be off-putting to a traveler who has already been walking, but strong and lovely to see.
It looks like it was built yesterday because it is so clean and well kept! Children as well as adults will enjoy their day in Harbor Town, and the Lighthouse is a must!
