Fantastic room that could accommodate a family of 4-6. Well equipped kitchen, two full baths and three tv's.
Indoor and outdoor pools, a real fitness center, and steps from the beach.
Staff made great recommendations for dining and golf.
This is a great place for your vacation

Honestly, this resort is very clean, rooms were nice and big and the view is beautiful. Now that said my only hold back on giving this Marriott a 5 was the lack of activities for kids. I understand that it is the low season but they should still have activities for the kids. Being a Marriott owner was a little disappointed with this, it was on the chiller side when we went but I would have thought they had a little more activities then what they did which was none. Don't get me wrong we did still take our walk on the beach and rented bikes did our typical family activities and had a wonderful stay but would have loved to see a little more for the kids. We did make a comment to a Marriott employee and they understood and said they would make a note on it maybe something they could work on. Originally someone mentioned since it was a low season and that was why the lack of actiivites but we went over to the Surf Watch and saw all the list of activities they had there so I guess it was just the Grand Ocean that didn't have the activities ready for the kids. Again, overall the resort is upkept and we did enjoy our stay in Hilton Head as we always do and the staff is very nice.

We did like how we were so close to Sea Pines and enjoyed taking our bike rides in the morning throught the many paths and along the beach.

Once again we are completely satisfied at a Marriott resort property. In the past, when here in Hilton Head, we stayed at the Marriott Heritage. This time we chose the Ocean Grande. Glad we did. The accommodations are superb. Everything you need for a relaxing stay. The ocean is only a few steps away. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Ask for an ocean view room. There are many wonderful restaurants within a few minutes from the resort. The beach is spectacular. Hilton Head is truly a marvelous place to visit and the Ocean Grande makes it perfect.

We stayed at the Marriott Grande Ocean back in 1998 when there were just three buildings and the dolphin pool was still under construction. Now there are ten buildings, numerous pools, spas, walkways, and activities. The ocean is still there....just a few steps away. We were lucky to get an ocean-view balcony and it was glorious. February is still crisp in Hilton Head...but we basked in the mid-60's temp and were sad for our friends in Virginia and NY who had snow and 24 degree highs. My husband golfed several times and I brought lots of books and enjoyed some quiet time. There are plenty of activities at the resort...and a sheet lists these events, as well as an evening recorded message that comes by phone to each unit. Our unit was spacious and well appointed. Fully equipped kitchens with cookware and tableware. One surprise was that wifi is free...but we found that over our stay it was a bit frustrating as the signal was not very strong and I found that it varied as I walked around the rooms. I did have a in-room mishap: the washing machine (which is in a separate utility room) was noisy and then began to leak. Within minutes of a call to housekeeping I had a very nice maintenance man arrive, assess the situation and within a short time there was a new machine quickly in place. The staff was extremely helpful and gave us coupons books to use at area restaurants. Parking is under most units, but is there was no shortage of luggage carts lined at the elevators for your convenience. We will definitely return to this resort in the future.

This was the third year in a row when we spent Christmas and New Year at the Grande Ocean, and it was great as usual. We are not owners, but we love this resort. Having visited others Marriott timeshares on HHI, we find the Grande Ocean the best one! The location so close to Sea Pines is great, as we love biking and the bike paths are fantastic in the Sea Pines area. This year we had an oceanfront unit, a first for us, and it was lovely to have the coffee on the balcony facing the ocean!

The resort has lots of activities. The bikes are 30$/week, and the bikes are well maintained and clean. We played tennis at the courts across the street, every unit gets one hour every day. The availability was never a problem, we reserved the day before and we always got the time we wanted. The tennis courts are very well maintained and you can get tennis balls from the front desk. There are also plenty of daily activities at the resort, including free wine and cheese once a week, free welcome breakfast once a week (on Monday mornings), quiz challenge, T-shirt dye, etc. We also made extensive use of the outdoor jacuzzis, there are many around the property so even though the resort was fully booked we always had one for ourselves.

The Marketplace has good pizza, my son likes it very much. Front desk can also reserve rounds of golf at the Shipyard and 3 other courses (we went to Shipyard as it was very close) for 10$ per round (at least in Dec and Jan).

Last but not least, the villas are fantastic, fully equipped, nicely decorated, large and very comfortable. As we were 'renters' we had the advantage of daily cleaning, and the cleaning team were great!

Even though there are other Marriott timeshares on the island, Grande Ocean is our favorite!

Marriott Grand Ocean Resort is located near Sea Pines, and is an older but favored Hilton Head Island resort. The initial parking at check-in is problematic, but this Atlantic Ocean Front resort is classic.

Marriott Grand Ocean Resort is an extremely desirable Atlantic Ocean Front Marriott Vacation Club. If you are ready for an upscale holiday oceanfront in the “Low Country,” this is THE Place! Marriott Grand Ocean Resort is a perfect holiday retreat for families and for couples. We always take delight in seeing multi-generations using several condo units to holiday. Our advice is to reserve a two bedroom or at least a one-bedroom property. Please do not “settle” for a studio unit.

Marriott Grand Ocean Resort is one of the older of several Marriott Vacation Club Resorts in Hilton Head Island. We think it impossible for all of the Marriott Vacation Club owners to agree on “the best” Marriott Vacation Resort. There are seven Marriott Vacation Club Resorts, and one Marriott Hilton Head Island Beach Resort & Spa in Hilton Head.

We observe that many guests of Marriott Grand Ocean Resort are either Marriott “timeshare” owners or owners of other branded timeshares. Other guests may have “booked” Marriott Grand Ocean Resort, and may not quite be certain of the difference between Marriott Grand Ocean Resort and a Marriott Hilton Head Island Beach Resort & Spa. All eight properties are similar, and all eight properties use common terminology: “Condo Style Suite, 2 Bedroom Condominium, Bedroom 1: 1 King, Bedroom 2: 2 Double, Bathrooms: 2.”

Marriott Hilton Head Island Beach Resort & Spa is similar to a Marriott Vacation club, and offers “resort hotel” amenities such as daily maid service, numerous on-property dining areas, and general “hotel” features. The seven Marriott Vacation Club Resorts do not provide free daily maid service, and on property dining is very limited. This is not a negative because there are 400+ “restaurants” within minutes, and 40+ upscale restaurants as well.

Ok: the primary difference is that many guests in Marriott Grand Ocean Resort Vacation Club have either purchased a deeded timeshare weeks or the newer Marriott Destination Points (Not Marriott Reward Points.) However, Marriott Reward Points may be used to book Marriott Grand Ocean Resort, and one might simply book Marriott Grand Ocean Resort as one reserves any hotel property. If you are a Marriott’s Reward member, please display your Marriott Elite card to enjoy enhanced villa accommodations.

My wife and I have been “timesharers” for 30+ years, and timesharing with all of it’s advantages and disadvantages is a lifestyle choice. We now own six Marriott Resorts and six additional non-Marriott resorts for our holidays.

In general folks who elect to purchase vacation properties enjoy independent navigation, and like the advantages of condo ocean front holidays at a premium resort that is “first class.” In addition to the purchase price, we pay an annual maintenance fee of about $1,100.00 per week of ownership. We either exchange our Marriott's Resort through Marriott or through Interval International (please Goggle the terms) to many other “Timeshares” throughout the U.S. and the world. We have holidayed in nearly all Marriott U.S. Vacation Clubs. In our view, Marriott Grand Ocean Resort, while smaller is as nice as the Newport CA Beach Marriott Vacation Club. And some years we do enjoy both the Atlantic and the Pacific beaches.

We understand that an automobile is essential, and we fly into Savannah, select a car rental, and holiday. We cherish the nearby Publix supermarket for morning breakfast preparation, take breakfast and coffee on our private decks, and either dine out at the many Hilton Head area restaurants or prepare lunches and dinners at our condos. All condos are equipped with washers and dryers. I might be happy to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean all week and never leave the property; however, my wife is a list maker, and she determines if we are going shopping, visiting upscale consignment shops, taking day trips to Savannah or Beaufort, and selecting the restaurants.

We always rent GM OnStar vehicles, and we seem to “know Hilton Head fairly well. Marriott's Barony Beach Resort offers a much-needed carefree luxury holiday. We shall return again and again. We typically arrive a day early and depart a day late; we elect the Savannah Marriott Riverfront Hotel in order to enjoy Savannah.

Room Tip: Oceanfront or Oceanview

Fabulous! Recently stayed here using a time share and we were delighted with everything! Great beach location, grounds were beautiful and well maintained, including pools and hot tubs! The rooms were spacious, clean and well furnished. Highly recommended for couples or families. Will definitely return!
