My family and I stayed at South Beach Inn for 3 nights in May. We loved it. The marina is beautiful. The rooms are very clean and very nicely decorated. I loved having a seperate bedroom. The people who work at the Inn are more than helpful with things to do, wich resturants are best, etc. They have a videos and books that you can use free of charge. My sons loved the three parrots and the clown who does face painting and makes things out of baloons. We also enjoyed the pool with kiddie pool and the playground. Best of all we paid so little for all this I almost felt gulity.

South Beach Marina Inn is definetely the best kept secret of Hilton Head. It has the most convenient location. Being right above the quaint shops of the Marina, it is within eyesight of the Salty Dog. We spent each night of our three night vacation (Memorial Day 2004) at the Salty Dog - listening to their live music and enjoying the great evening weather.

The Inn is within walking distance to a private beach. You can rent jetskis from a place right downstairs in the Marina.

The rooms are spacious and have a full size refrigerator. And they are clean and reasonably priced. All in all, it was the best vacation. It was so great, in fact, that we are staying there again Memorial Day 2005 weekend. Actually, we are staying in the same room also!

This is a wonderful little inn at a great price. The rooms are located on the second floor of the South Beach Marina retail and restaurant complex in Sea Pines. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. We had a two bedroom/ two bath unit with a kitchenette and a large balcony overlooking the main courtyard. The kids loved the loft bedroom they shared.

The complex can be noisy and crowded in the early evening but by the time we headed for bed it was always pretty quiet. There were two restaurants (including the world famous Salty Dog Cafe), a pizza place, and ice cream shop in the complex. A quiet beach was a 2 minute walk away. We walked on it in the morning but went to a nearby public beach because of the outdoor restaurant and beach rentals. Going to the public beach was the only time we used the car during our 4 day stay.

The staff was helpful and friendly. They provided a list of upcoming available weekends when we asked and offered to show us some of the homes and condos they had for rent. The inn had many VHS tapes and DVDs (including several dozen family friendly ones) available at no charge.

All in all it was a wonderful and relaxing visit. We will be going back.

South Beach Marina and Inn is the best kept secret on Hilton Head, if not in South Carolina. Located at the "toe" of the Island in Sea Pines Plantation - very special " New England fishing village" type atmosphere - has shops, 3 execellent restaurants including the infamous Salty Dog Cafe, tennis, swimming pool, outdoor entertainment during the warm months - which is most of the year, rent boats, rent bikes and a 3 minute walk to Tower Beach right on the Atlantic Ocean - or you can drive and park in the generous parking area. There is a general store on the premises of South Beach for most needs. The Inn rooms are located above the shops and are in the Nantuckett style with beautiful hardwood floors, chinz covered chairs and sofas, kitchnettes and some rooms have view of the inlet and the fishing boats. Not advertised very well because of the restrictive covenants of Sea Pines Plantation - residential, but a wonderful place to stay - lowest rates on the Island. The only drawback is there is no elevator and all the rooms are on the 2nd floor - but the staff is most helpful. It would be impossible for anyone confined to a wheelchair to stay at the Inn. South Beach also has condos right on the beach and on the inlet for rent that would be handicap accessible. Literally, you can go there park your car, check in and never leave and get in the traffic of the Island if you didn't want to. Of course, Harbour Town is also in Sea Pines - so you just follow the crooked roads and the circles and go to the infamous light house and yatch basin and they have wonderful shops and restaurants there as well.

We stayed at the South Marina Inn last August. Accommodation was superb, very quaint - a 2 bedroom (sleeps 6) situated over the restaurants/stores. Each day we sat on our balcony watching the marina. Just a walk down the stairs to the restaurants and stores. We were able to use the swimming pool plus the cycle rentals were situated there. We thought it might be noisy as the Marina is a buzzing place during the summer but it was very quiet in our accommodation. We highly recommend it for a short stay and the price was reasonable too.
