This property is very well cared for and clean. The grounds are beautiful and well-manicured. Beds are beyond comfortable and they have a pretty well-stocked kitchen. You should know, however, that the property is not all laid out together (a Westin Hotel sits between the main part of the hotel and a separate section of rooms). Because of this, almost everywhere you wanted to go was at least a 5 minute walk. This isn't a really a negative, just something you should know about before you book - the walk to the beach is 5-10 minutes, the walk to the heated outdoor pool or the snack bar or the spa are all about 5 minutes away from the separate block of rooms.

The staff is very friendly, there are free drinks some afternoons, there are fun trivia games and scavengar hunts and all-around it was a fantastic vacation!

I hear they are revamping these rooms this season, so by next summer it should be even better.

We just returned from our family vacation to Hilton Head. It was the first time our entire family was able to vacation together, and the 2nd time staying at Barony Beach. We rented two villas to accommodate nine adults and an infant. We requested that the two villas be side by side and the front desk people made it happen. Although we prefer an ocean front or ocean view in order to keep the cost down we decided to try a garden villa.

I was concerned about the view and location but was not disappointed. We were on the third floor of the Jasmine building (Rooms 9231 and 9232) and had a nice view of the pool. All views are inward facing so you don't have to worry about facing a parking lot. The pool near the garden villas is great if you have young children (or grandchildren) although the location was not ideal if you want to go to the beach or the main pool. There is a shortcut to the beach but it involves crossing behind the Westin. The trip to the main pool is about 10 minute walk but no one in the family complained. The property is well maintained and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking and grilling. There was no visible signs of wear and tear in the rooms and the carpets were clean. The beds and pillows are the most comfortable that I have ever slept on. There is a very nice pavilion near the garden villas that have about a half dozen grills as wells as two TV's, ping pong, etc to entertain you and the kids while you grill.

Every night free movies were available in the room. This week we watched Hunger Games, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Frozen, Captain Phillips, and Gravity all in the comfort of our own room. There are bike rentals right next to the garden villas that rent for $15/day or $30 a week. I suggest you go for the week and ask for a Bike Trail map. The internet connection is a little weak, but I think they were in the process of improving it. In summary when it comes to the overall property, it was top notch and I doubt that you will be disappointed.

The customer service was exceptional as compared to some of the other properties that we have stayed. We are owners and I worked in the hospitality industry for twenty years so I am very picky about customer service. We always arrive early on check-in day to ensure we get a good days use of the property. We arrived very early on Friday (about noon) and the front desk gave us towels and told us that we were free to hang out at the pool until the rooms were ready. Because they wanted to ensure we would get our two villas next to each other the two rooms were not ready until 4, which was no problem for us since we had our swimming suits with us and enjoyed hanging out at the pool. When we did get our rooms one set of keys didn't work but the front desk responded immediately and sent someone up with a new set.

The most impressive customer service was demonstrated the day before we were scheduled to check out. One of my daughters caught some sort of a stomach virus and went to the ER at the Hilton Head Hospital. We were scheduled to check out the next morning but I knew that she would not be up for the 8 hour drive back to Florida with her husband and infant daughter so I called MVC reservations and asked if we could add another day to our stay.

Unfortunately, the only room that was available was in another building on the other side of the property so we would have to move all our stuff for one night. I knew it would be a hassle but we had no choice since the hotel was almost completely booked. The next morning about 9AM (the day we were to move to the other building) we had to call 911 to take my daughter back to emergency by ambulance.

We were scheduled to vacate the rooms by 11 and were not ready for the move because of concern for my daughter and the fact that her family hadn't even begun to pack. Fortunately, a man from the Marriott Loss Prevention showed up right before the ambulance left and I explained the situation to him. He said he would work with the front desk to see what they can do to keep us in our room.

Although the memorial weekend was beginning the front desk found an opening and allowed us to remain in our room for another night which saved us the hassle of having to move all our stuff to another building for one night. A maid showed up shortly and gave us fresh towels and changed the bed linen. Fortunately, my daughter was well enough to make the drive home last night. My wife and I checked out at 6AM this morning but when we got about 10 minutes down the road one of the kids texted us to tell us she left a bunch of clothes in a drawer. So we had to go back to the front desk and get someone to let us back in. Another nice person from loss prevention came and opened up the room for us. 12 hours later we are back in Pittsburgh, attempting to relax from an eventful vacation.

I wanted to write this review and thank the Barony Beach staff who went out of way to accommodate us through our various trials. Although I can't recall all the names I think you all know who you are. Mr.Marriott should be proud!

Beautiful two bedroom two bathroom villa with nice balcony. We were on the 2nd floor which gave us a view of the inner courtyard and pool which was fine. Quiet with the sliders shut. This is great for a family or two couples as it includes a FULL kitchen (stocked with utensils, cookware, glasses, etc.). For just the two of us it was a bit excessive and we will try a regular hotel next time. The Marriott will be the first one I check for availability.

Had a fantastic time here over three days last week. Would definitely return.

1. Please improve waterslide signage at the pool. Even though the hours are marked on the slide entrance, and they were in our folder of information upon check in you need to better mark them on the entrance to the pool complex. We arrived one morning and were told by one of your staff that the slide would not open until 10 children were present. It was a dull grey day and we contemplated leaving. Not true. We were thrilled to see the people working the slide when they showed up at noon to open the slide. Hurray!!!!

2. If the vending machine at the garden pool is not working, please put up an out of order sign. We walked over to the main building to get drinks but did not get something for our youngest child as she wanted to use the vending machine. Upon trying to use this machine, we learned that it was not working and we were slightly disappointed.

3. The in room safes are too small. It's time to upgrade to safes that CAN accommodate laptops, iPads, etc. the only thing we could lock up was our wallets, keys and jewelry.

FYI - There is no towel exchange at this facility. We have stayed at other TimeShares and there was a towel exchange. If we were there for a week we would definitely have had to wash our towels as they would stink from the pool and the beach. Cleaning staff took one of our towels too as my son put it on the floor with the bath towels he had used.

Beware - you may not get the room you want. I do not understand why they ask what you want and in what building and if you want a high or low floor. Makes no sense. Countless people have already commented about this.

The Barony is great. Lots of activities, great location, very relaxing. Hope to come back again soon. Thanks for a great time.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom and it was hugh, clean, updated, and very enjoyable. As with most timeshares the best views go to the people who are owners at a location, so forget a beach view. Our room was in the back section and overlooked the pool, it was very nice. Most of the noise came from the water falling over the kid lot fake trees not people. April does have rain but its not very cold and there was an indoor pool that our teenagers enjoyed. The only thing I wish they would improve and agree that it may be very difficult to do...the walk from the back units to the beach. There is a Sams Club and several markets close to the resort. The kitchen was great for a mixed family of picky eaters. There is also a small disc golf course very close by on a church grounds and a great one in Savannah Tom Tripplet park. My husband loves his disc golf. The resort is a resonable bike ride from the downtown area. The resort rented bikes by the day or $30 for a week.
