My daughter and her fiancé' held their wedding there this past Saturday. We had booked a block of rooms, with some people arriving earlier in the week and some later. Upon early arrival, there was a small miscommunication about the rooms, but Jamese and Brooklyn immediately rectified the situation, which worked out well for those of us early arrivers and even for some of those who arrived later in the week! The wedding itself had been planned for both an outdoor ceremony and outdoor reception. On the day of the wedding, the weather decided to be unpredictable, as well as blazing hot with matching humidity. Based on the DJ's input at the last minute (90 minutes before the ceremony), the reception was moved from outdoors to indoors. Margaret and her event staff swiftly got the reception decorations and furniture moved indoors, and had it all arranged before the ceremony ended. The food was some of the best food we'd had at a wedding reception, and several of our guests echoed that sentiment! The beer can chicken, butternut squash and succotash were scrumptious, and all compliments go to the Chef and his kitchen staff! The reception wait staff was also amazing, and handled the change in set-up, meal and clean-up with the utmost professionalism. Particular kudos go to Willy, the event barman/event clean-up MASTER! He took the time to gather all of our provided decorations in one area, with the gifts and had security check on them throughout the night. In the morning, he found us to let us know it was ready for us to take away, and even helped pack the boxes and the truck! To make this part of the process easier, a young man on the Sunday breakfast wait staff in the Porch (from Hungary) brought us a carafe of coffee, condiments and cups to the Sky room, which was a true blessing after a short night of sleep and much celebration! After the event, some of our guests left various items in their rooms and remembered them after they had checked out. As we were the last to check-out, we worked again with Brooklyn, and Candace, to get the items from housekeeping, as well as ensure items were properly labeled and cared for so the guests still in the local area could come retrieve them from the front desk. Once we arrived home, we noticed a minor discrepancy in charges from the event, but India, Marina and Margaret collaborated to resolve the matter with no further issue, and continued to follow-up even after the matter had been resolved. No event ever goes perfectly, but the event, hotel and kitchen staff at The Beach House made sure any issue, no matter how it came up or what size it was, got resolved to the bride and groom's satisfaction! Lastly, this entire event was made possible by the tremendous planning efforts of Margaret and her predecessor Tricia. We realize they have people who work with them to make this all happen, and huge thanks to any who had a part in this past weekend. But Margaret took over from Tricia and kept it all on track, and they, as well as all others mentioned in this review, are an asset to this hotel, and to the Holiday Inn Corporation. If I were their manager, I would benchmark their work ethic/habits and use them as standards to train to. I would also reward their efforts in a manner befitting those who go above and beyond.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the beach and Tiki Hut are quieter, so anything ending in the 30-40 range. (440, etc.)

Hello,
Congratulations on your daughter’s wedding. We’re truly honored to have been a part of her special and momentous day. All your praise is much appreciated. Our amazing team works very hard and with great dedication to make each wedding a success. We know your appreciation will make their day when we pass along your compliments. It sounds like the wedding was not only a happy event, but also lots of fun- isn’t that what weddings are all about?! Our chef will be thrilled to know his cuisine was thoroughly enjoyed, thank you. We hope to see you again for more beach time memories; some relaxing time for the parents of the bride is well earned.

Stayed there on way to orlando from DC.
Great family hotel. Right on beach and has great bars on beach. Bike hire available on site, best way to see island. Room ok. Food is good, but great resturants available nearby.

OMG! This is my new vacation spot. I came here for my honeymoon after I eloped and did not want to leave. The atmosphere was stunning and the service was great! Eula kept my room sparkling and Chris appeared everytime I needed something. I almost wanted to take them both home to continue that "vacation" feeling. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a get away!

We stayed May 25-28, 2014 at Beach House Resort and you can't beat the location. It is right on the beach so you walk out of the lobby straight to the pool, tiki bar and beach. As far as oceanview room (we didn't book this) I wouldn't bother unless you can get 4th or 5th floor. Anything lower than that and your view is blocked by tiki bar - also keep in mind that they often have live music so it could be a bit loud if you have kids trying to nap or get an early night's sleep. Our package included bike rentals (we didn't use b/c we walked everywhere) and also breakfast every day. Breakfast was buffet style and quite delicious. Only snag there was that there seemed to be change in management part way through our stay and so the last day they charged us for the breakfast (after insisting that the "bill" was only for record keeping purposes instead of checking us off a list like they had the preceding days). Manager removed charge at check out once we brought it up so no issue there. The only other issue we had was with a/c in our room. Seemed to work perfectly during the day (i.e., I had to wear a sweater to keep warm; my boyfriend was in heaven. *chuckle*) but at night, it either kept going off/on every 5min. or stopped altogether. Not sure if this was some sort of eco setting or just an issue but it made for uncomfortably warm nights. We didn't mention it to management during stay b/c it always seemed to resolve during day. Also, BRING YOUR OWN PILLOWS if you don't like super soft (not firm) pillows. Normally, I'm fine with whatever but these were so soft that your head would sink in middle and the sides would threaten to suffocate you. Needless to say, between the a/c and pillows, we didn't get the greatest sleep. Also, the hallway carpets could use with some updating. But the rooms themselves were beautiful, updated and pretty quiet. Loved that we could walk off the property and be at a multitude of shops, restaurants and even a small independent theatre. Beach views cannot be beat (watch out for jelly fish while you're walking; there were many in the water and washed up on shore during our stay). Solid choice for romantic vacation or fun family getaway!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on first floor (too noisy) and try to get one away from elevator and ice/vending machines. Oceanview only if you can get 4th or 5th floor for unobstructed views.

Heather,
Your description of our location, “gorgeous beach location”, has us smiling! It’s great to hear that you loved the breakfast buffet at our restaurant, The Porch. We apologize for the confusion on your bill for breakfast one morning and the issues you encountered with the A/C and pillows. We’ll take all your feedback into careful consideration, thank you. It sounds like you enjoyed many of the attractions in our local area. We hope to see you again when you next visit Hilton Head Island.

My family stayed here for a short weekend away. The hotel is in a busy area, next to a public beach access, so there is a lot of activity all day and night, especially on Saturday. The hotel seems to have made some recent updates which are pretty nice. Overall it was an ok stay for a night or two, however, I would not want to stay here for a full week. If I were 20 years younger and looking for a fun place to stay with friends, I would definitely stay here !

Pros:
Easy to find from main road
Resort amenities are nice. Pool, easy beach access, on site restaurants, some activities, etc.
Close proximity to other restaurants, shops, etc.
Rooms are quiet and clean.
All employees were very nice.
Easy check-in and check-out

Cons:
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation, this is NOT your place. There is music/bands playing pretty much from noon until 10 pm. It was not an issue for us but for families rooms near that area it could be.
Lots of folks going in and out of the beach area because of the public beach access just next to the hotel. There is a "guard" that controls the parking lot to help ensure that only guests are entering to park but not 24/7 so parking can be difficult at times.
The elevators and elevator areas are very hot and humid
The rooms, though clean, are not very big so not much space to store clothing and other items when you have a family of 4 staying in a room.
Beds in double rooms are just that. Double beds. Not queen beds.

Room Tip: If music playing from approx. noon until 10 pm is a problem for you be sure you are not put in a room that is near the Tiki Hut.

We are committed to making the Beach House better than ever and your comments help us reach that goal. We’ll take all your feedback, including your thoughts on our bed sizes, into careful consideration. We hope to see you again in the future; we’re confident we can win you over.
