From the warm, personal welcome we received to the last spoonfuls of ice cream scooped from a beautiful teardrop-shaped ice sculpture, the dinner that four of us HHI residents recently enjoyed in celebration of a 'significant' birthday was superb. No detail was overlooked, and Chef Hugo added some items of his own to our order at no cost as a special treat. That's the sort of personal attention that complements the delicious cuisine at the Trattoria!

My husband and I are from Toronto, a city with the largest Italian population in North America, so we have dined in some of the best authentic Italian restaurants. As first time visitors to Trattoria Davina, we were blown away by every aspect of this restaurant. We felt so welcome by Dominic, our waiter. It is obvious he truly loves his job and people. He welcomed us like we were friends, brought us a lovely Prosecco (gratis) to set the mood and described each item on the menu in a manner that made our mouths water. We decided on the Caesar Salad with anchovies (the best I've ever had) and a Pasta Special (off menu); linguini pomadoro with grilled scallops and shrimps. Fabulous! Hard to go easy on the bread while waiting for our dinner. 1000 yr old recipe, we're told.....hot and delish! Good wine list; especially the Infamous Goose Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Kudos to the chef! We will be back!

Thank you for your kind and warm comments. Dominic does it again. He's real, warm and yes very much committed to our restaurant.

The Ciabatta Bread is perhaps the best in the area and a real treat. Chef Hugo does perhaps more off-menu items than anyone. People who've experienced special Italian dishes from around the world will often ask the chef to prepare it and he's usually able to WOW them in the process.

We look forward to your return.

We went for dinner on a Monday evening, and were saddened by the fact that there was more staff than customers the whole time we were there; I hope that the restaurant does better the rest of the week. Live entertainment started at 7pm, a very good singer of popular melodies. The Italian menu was varied, but they offered no spaghetti and I found it hard to find a salad without blue or goat cheese on it. I found a dirty napkin from a previous diner had been left on my chair, but otherwise service was very attentive. The penne pasta I finally ordered was too full of creamy pesto to be able to distinguish it from the shrimp it contained, and made for a very filling platter which I could neither enjoy nor finish. The restaurant clearly tries very hard to provide a nice experience.
