Our family stayed at the resort on our way down to Florida. We had a two bedroom villa. The room was clean and very roomy. The kitchen provided everything you would need to cook any meal! My kids loved the pool and the slide. The staff was very nice. The resort had activities planned for the kids all day. It was a beautiful place to visit. Driving outside the resort, we were able to find food stores, restaurants and pharmacies. Definitely coming back!

I have been a dvc member for 7 years and this was my first time at hilton head. We got married in June and decided to take our honeymoon here, we were very disappointed. This resort does not live up to the Disney name.

The rooms are very dark and outdated. The T.V. was the size of a small computer screen, the smallest i've seen in a hotel. The noise travels between floors as mentioned in other posts. We are constantly hearing the walking, jumping and running of the people above us. The marsh occasionally smells when the tide goes out. It's really unpleasant at time but is to be expected.

If your handicapped, this resort is really difficult to get around. The only rooms with an elevator are at the main lodge, furthest from the pool. The pool area is difficult to get to the bathroom via the handicap ramp, which has a full height gate in the middle of the ramp. I would imagine it's difficult to open from a wheelchair. All the rest of the rooms are stairs, plan on lugging your luggage up the stairs to your room. There is no bell service!

The pool is small compared to other DVC resorts. Not much seating, hardly any seating in the shade, and only 4 tables to eat at under the deck with no view. The bathrooms/locker rooms, food window, and soda machine is upstairs, out of the line of sight of parents, and difficult to get to. Especially for the handicapped. Very poorly designed. We tried to get a spot at the pool just before lunch, every chair was taken and the pool was packed. This was on a wednesday when most kids are in school. I cant imagine how crowded it would be durning the summer months. We had to get in the car and drive to the Beach House pool instead.

The Beach House is nice and usually less crowded. Plenty of seats in the shade, as well as the sun. The pool is decent size and bathrooms are clean. The drawback is the pool is 1 mile across the street. You either have to drive or take the shuttle. Parking is very limited. On a Saturday we tried to go at noon. The parking lot was full and had to drive back and take the shuttle. The disappointment is the shuttle only runs to 5:00pm which really limits your time at the pool or beach.

They have a backyard BBQ once a week on tuesdays. Its buffet style. The food was decent, the $26.00 per adult is pricey, but the ease of eating on site was convenient. We stopped by one of the movie nights and they barely have any seats. People were bringing their kitchen chairs out of their room or standing. I would guess their is seating for maybe 24 people. Once again. Minimal seating.

The only nice thing is the boardwalk (Shelter Cove) restaurants across the bridge. There are plenty of restaurants walking distance but they are a little pricey and not very kid friendly. They are high end restaurants featuring mostly seafood. We made reservations but probably didn't need to even on a Friday night. The restaurants are mostly empty. Figure on driving somewhere to eat or ordering food to the room for the kids. also, The nightlife seems to be a very short window, even on weekends 7:00pm-9:30pm. The only positive. There is a little bit of entertainment for the kids and a small ice cream shop.

Out of all the DVC resort, this one really lacks the comfort of the others. Considering everything you will have to drive to, they should make it more comfortable at the resort. More on site food options, more seating all around, and better accessibility and assistance for guests.

We will definately not be coming back, I think we will be going back to Disney next time!

Room Tip: I would go somewhere else

We think that Disney's Hilton Head resort provides an enjoyable place to have a family vacation. By way of background, we are DVC members and have stayed at Disney's Bay Lake Tower (Disney World) and Aulani (Hawaii) resorts over the past twelve months. This context is important as while Hilton Head provides a laid back and relaxing place to vacation, it does not offer an equivalent service or facility level comparable to the two aforementioned resorts. Issues have been well chronicled in previous posts, but I would highlight two areas that deserve specific mention. First, the on-site food offering is extremely limited. There are two snack bars with limited hours on property. Of course, you have a kitchen and can prepare meals, but we like to eat out when we go on vacation. Second, the rooms are a touch on the dated side and you can hear people walking in the unit above.

We had a room in the Live Oak Lodge. We liked the fact that we had covered parking and the elevator was a huge help; we have a 16 month old. Overall, this wouldn't be our first place to revisit, but we would not hesitate to provide it a qualified recommendation.

This was our first stay as DVC members outside of Orlando. As always, Disney did not disappoint. Tons of activities for the kids and ours loved everything they participated in. I can't say enough about the recreation staff at the pool. They were so wonderful with our kids and others at the resort. Limited dining options on resort but the area has so many great restaurants we didn't mind. Our room was a 2 bedroom villa and it was fantastic. Clean, well stocked and plenty of space for our family. We enjoyed renting bikes and riding to the Beach House so we never used the shuttle system. We enjoyed the separation of the resort from the beach. It gave us another area to explore. The view of the marsh is beautiful and I am glad the resort is located there as opposed to being directly on the beach. We would love to stay here again!

Disney's Hilton Head Resort has been our family's favorite vacation spot for several years and we still like it but it is not what it once was. For Kids Night Out (now called kids night in) they used to take the kids to a movie theatre or miniature golf course. Last year Disney put the cabash on that. However, they did still play games around the resort that really interested the kids. This year they took the kids to a very lame in house playground and played a couple of lame games. The kids were so disappointed that it has been so dumbed down. Likewise, the pool game activities simply now lack the fun and energy of past years. Prizes that used to be fun are now a small piece of candy. The little on site shop has a greatly reduced variety of items for sale. They did slightly improve the very limited menu at the little quick service restaurant. Up until this year they had something called an unbirthday party for the kids. That has been eliminated. By the way, nothing has been added to make up for the many deletions. Even the campfire routine was boring compared to past years.

If you have not been here before, this is still a good resort. If you have, though, you will find it to be a shadow of its former self.
