Our first stay at HHI Disney Resort was amazing. I am so sad to have had it come to an end. The beauty of the location, the villas, the pool, beach house, activities...everything was amazing. The rooms were wonderful and the balconies so relaxing. I loved my stay there. I can't wait to return! The only complaint I have and realize there is nothing they can do is that you can hear stomping on the floor above. We had a family of 4 boys above one night and the next two heavy set couples. It was bearable but we just tried focusing on a good time. I look forward to next year....most relaxing HHI vacation ever. We come every year. The beach house is in beautifulPalmetto Dunes next to the Marriott Beach Club right accross the hiway but it is 5 mns and not a big deal..It is worth the view and what a great place! I love it!

Room Tip: Ask for a marsh view not near playground.

We stayed at DHHIR from April 17th through April 22nd. The resort was completely full due to the Easter holidays and school vacation week. Traveling were myself, my husband, and our two teenage sons ages 17 and 15. We had an excellent time! This resort has a very different feel from the Florida Disney resorts-- there are far fewer rooms on site, it is fairly quiet, and has a more relaxing feel. Due to the high demand and limited availability, we stayed in a Deluxe Studio the first two nights, and then switched to a 2-bedroom unit. Although the studio was a bit tight for all of us, the 2-bedroom accommodation with a full kitchen was terrific. It was very spacious-feeling, and thoughtfully planned out. The theming was low-key but very nice, and not "Mickey-fied" in any significant way. The property was very low-density, and even though it was fully booked it did not feel too crowded. There was never a time, for example, that I could not find a chair at the pool. Though the resort seemed to have primarily families with younger children as guests, we felt right at home as well, with a decent number of teens traveling with their families. All the staff we interacted with on property were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Close to our room were horseshoe pits, and even a few hammocks to relax in. The resort offers a listing of activities for each day, and I participated in a few of them. Specifically, I did the free one-hour walking tour of the resort property, which was interesting. Also, I did the three-hour Hilton Head Island tour (cost: $20) with Mike as tour guide and Al as our driver, and it was great! There is so much more to HIlton Head than golf, beaches, and restaurants! This tour showcased areas that typical tourists-- like me-- would not necessarily find or have access to, including an original working lighthouse, Confederate and Union/Federalist cemeteries and sites, historic neighborhoods, and the Honey Horn historic area. Mike also pointed out a number of good places to eat, etc, including the Frozen Moo for ice cream. Also, we rented a few bikes at the resort, which proved to be useful and alot of fun. The beach is a free shuttle ride or approx 2 mile bike ride from the resort, and we rode our bikes there most of the time. There is a quick serve restaurant there as well as a swimming pool and air-conditioned place to relax, play games, etc. The beach itself is very deep-- so much so that people were playing bocce or wiffle ball without fear of the shallow water washing away the court. There is also such an expanse of "hard" sand in between the soft sand and the comfortably warm water that you can ride bikes on the beach and it is very nice for walking and/or running. Our only disappointment was that the waves were very small-- but I can see that being a strong advantage for families with younger children. My husband and sons golfed on a few of the nearby Palmetto Dunes courses, and they were quite nice and challenging though expensive. All-in-all a nice vacation. I would definitely consider returning to Hilton Head in the future.

My husband and I went to Disney's Hilton Head Island on our own in October 2010. We loved it so much, we're taking the whole family this time in April/May 2011. It was the most beautiful, peaceful vacation we've ever had. The rooms were large and had everything you could need. You have to travel across the highway to get to the beach and beach house, but if you don't want to take your car, they provide transportation. They don't have much to eat right inside the Disney resort. But, just a very short (beautiful and romantic) walk outside the entrance is a wide selection of restaurants. You certainly don't need to be a kid to love Disney!

This was our first experience of a Disney resort, and of Hilton Head. We enjoyed both. The 2 bed rooms were spacious and very well kitted-out, the layout of the resort is relaxed, and walking out on the jetty into the estuary, watching the birds having their breakfast, was great. All told it was very relaxing.

The highlight was hiring bikes - nice and easy - and doing a round trip. Round trips on the whole are not easy in HH, and it is a shame that the bike lanes tend to be next to the big roads. But you can go down to Forest Beach, then cycle along the beach to the Disney beach resort and back from there. This was a great ride - made special when we realised that a dolphin was following us up the beach, just out to sea.

Just one gripe - given that the whole idea of the resort is to make you feel "at home", it was disappointing to face the approach to wifi access. Not only was this expensive, but if you had it, you had to have it for every day at the resort. Pretty expensive if all you want to do is check in for your flight....

Just got back from HH. Stayed at 2211 - a 2 bedroom. Unfortunately, it was next to the kid's playground (which is puzzling since we were offered 2 spots and asked for the quieter one). The room was very nice (2 BR), but the floor leaked near the main bedroom in 2 spots.

Otherwise, everything was fine. Up to the usual Disney standard. (Tho if you are allergic to pollen, this isn't the time of year!) Beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of extra pillows, blankets, etc.

Nice few days there! Bonus that DVC members have free internet access. (Didn't last time we were there years ago.)

Pool is very nice. You can take a shuttle to the other facility for the beach. The bars wasn't open yet in the late afternoon (maybe not a good idea????)

Nearly perfect trip to Disney's HHI resort. Check-in was quick and very friendly (except 2 cards didn't have charging privileges, which we didn't notice until later) and our unit was spotless, huge and in the best location -- which I will keep secret! :-) Spent lots of time biking and lounging on our balcony looking at the marsh, where we saw lots of dolphins.

Only real complaint was that restaurant at beach house closed at 3 pm. While that may make sense in January, in March there is still a significant number of guests at the beach who would like to get food or a drink refill at least until 5 pm or so.

But overall, a fantastic trip!

We stayed with our 3 and 5 year old children 3/11/11 - 3/13/11.
What an amazing property, the photos do not do it justice. We found a great deal through Expedia and got a 2 bedroom villa for about $175 a night-an absolute steal.
The villa was spacious, well appointed, spotless and comfy.
We liked it so much we wanted to extend our stay, but they were unfortunately overbooked.
We rented bikes and a trailer for the kids right on site and there is a path that runs under the main road to get to the Beach House. The fishing pier was cool and we would have loved to have stayed for the bonfire Sunday night.
Even the little ones loved the villa, on the way home they kept asking to "go bak to the hotel"!
While not over "Disney-fied" there were little touches throughout the property that reminded you of the Disney magic.
We will most definitely stay here again!
