Had to move to Harbour Club because we couldn't get 2nd night at Marriott Grande Ocean. Property was nice but a bit of a let-down after Marriott Grande Ocean. Our condo unit at Grande Ocean was perfect, like a model home. The unit at Harbour Club was very spacious, clean. and nicely decorated. However, it could use a bit of updating. The Grande Ocean resort grounds were also much nicer. I think I would have been much more impressed with Harbour Club had we not stayed at Grande Ocean first. Harbour Town itself is mostly just a bunch of shops, a few restaurants, golf courses, a pretty lighthouse, and marina. The Marriott folks were very nice at both locations. Grande Ocean let us stay until unit was ready at Harbour Club. Harbour Club is a little odd in that lobby closes at 6pm. You can call neighboring resort for any needs; really not a problem, just odd. Our unit had a nice bay view, 2 bedrooms (each with 2-person jacuzzi), 2 bath rooms, laundry room, living/dining/kitchen area, flat screen tv's in all rooms, dvd player, washer, dryer, etc. Amenities included toiletries, laundry detergent, dish-washing detergent, paper towels, coffee and coffee maker, dishes, glasses, silverware, cookware, etc. Also, very quiet. We got a special rate, otherwise might have been a bit pricey. Hilton Head is a nice destination for a laid-back day at beach and for good restaurants. Otherwise, unless you are golfers or shoppers, there is really nothing else to do. Also, very busy.

This is one of our favorite Marriott properties. It is quiet, peaceful and convenient with a great view of the lighthouse at Sea Pines. The property and pool are small and quiet but overlook the Sound-just lovely. The property doesn't offer the vast array of activities that larger properties provide BUT Harbor Town makes up the difference. Looking for relaxation and convenience? This is the place. Forget the car---walk to dinner, fish the sound, watch the boats bring in the day's catch, stroll the docks and dream, take a sunset cruise, go for ice cream, climb to the top of the lighthouse, listen to the street musicians, shop the boutiques for gifts or cheap souvenirs, pick up sundries at the corner store and rent bikes without ever starting your car! You could quite literally shop for groceries, head for the property and stay put for days and days. Bike to the beach, golf or just relax. My husband's family introduced me to the island, and to the resort, 15 years ago. I grew up going to the Gulf and fully expected to hate the beach 'up-east.' I love it and count the days til we go back. The week before Memorial Day is the best time of the year--cool but not cold, warm but not hot and the crowds aren't bad. Love, love, love HHI, Sea Pines and most especially Harbour Club---quiet, quaint and just perfect!

Room Tip: Choose the top floor, facing the lighthouse. Just lovely

Marriott has outdone itself with this resort. This was an excellent choice for a relaxing, beautiful trip. Our villa overlooked Calibogue Sound and we enjoyed dolphin watching from our balcony. The villa was spacious and clean. The front desk was great! With the cold weather, the beach being a hike away was not a problem.
This is a great place to visit!

If you are looking for a timeshare exchange, Marriott's Harbour Club may meet your needs. We found the rooms to be spacious and clean. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Our kids enjoyed the smores at the outdoor fire pit. The pool is rather small, its location overlooking the the Calibogue Sound is very pretty. Please note, very few of the rooms have water views.

About this location:

If you want to go to the beach in the summer, prepare yourself for a trolley ride or a 2 mile bike ride. The beach club parking lot fills up by 10am. There are reasonably priced bike rentals onsite.

This location in Harbour Town is an easy walk over to see the yachts, or catch a dolphin cruise. There is an excellent but pricey restaurant next door called CQs.

We found it a bit sad to be so close to the water and not be able to see it.

What we wish we had known:

We found it annoying that this Marriott does not offer a towel service. They provide beach towels at the beginning of the week, but don't clean them, so either bring extra towels or extra tide. The amount of shampoo, soap, and dish washing detergent provided upon checkin is inadequate to last for a week. There is a service available to take our your trash and bring fresh towels for $9 a day for vacation exchange visitors.

Recommendation:
We recommend Sea Pines if you enjoy riding a bike. If all you want to do is sit on the beach, you should hold out for one of the beach front properties. If Marriott is your style, and you don't mind a commute the beach, you should be happy here.
