We recently had lunch at this low-key restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the food as well as great service. The restaurant does not take reservations and is quite busy for dinner service. We opted to have lunch and were very impressed by the freshness and quality of the dishes. Definite restaurant to try while in Hilton Head.

We discovered this through other positive TA reviews and were not let down.
This tiny restaurant was a real treat and one of our best meals during a recent long weekend in Hilton Head.
The restaurant's seating space is split (about evenly) between a cozy inside and garden-like outside area.
We ate there for weekend brunch (served both Sat. & Sun mornings) and found the service, food quality, and over-all experience to be great.
They were very accommodating to create a "off-the-menu" order of breakfast items for our daughter and my wife and I enjoyed the banana Fosters french toast and the Bischick (an outstanding combination a pan fried boneless chicken breast served over homemade biscuits smothered in some of the best gravy I've even had.
The small seating area can mean a wait for tables but the time passed quickly (they even have several "games" in the outside area to amuse folks waiting) and it was definitely worth it.
We will absolutely be returning during our next Hilton Head visit.

We went there twice during our one week at Hilton Head. While there is always a wait, we really enjoyed having a few cocktails in the backyard. The moonshine cocktails, live entertainment and the kids games make the time pass quickly. The food and service was excellent and there is an abundance of gluten free option.

Save room for the banana pudding...really...save room.

This is not only the best food in Hilton Head but some of the best anywhere! My family ate there for the second time recently. I couldn't wait! We enjoyed fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, trout, grits, Lima beans, the backyard bean salad, baked chicken, key lime pie and hummingbird cake. All incredible! Service is also outstanding. Get there at 4:30 when they open if you don't want to wait. Eat outside too (if it's not that hot)!

We had an amazing dinner at A Lowcountry Backyard. The atmosphere was great and food was fresh and out of this world. The shrimp and grits were wonderful and the Banana Pudding in a mason jar was great. Get there early. It is small and it get's crowded quick. If you are in Hilton Head, you must try this restaurant.
