“Great Food and Staff”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

We had dinner here with friends. The restaurant opened last year and has a pleasant, rustic atmosphere. The menu includes lots of seafood and other South Carolina Low Country cuisine. I had the grilled seafood trio, with shrimp, crab cake and calamari. The calamari was grilled in a way I had never experienced. Others at our table had roasted flounder, fried seafood platter and roasted tilapia. We had a variety of sides including shrimp gumbo, greens, hush puppies, and sweat potato cornbread. Everything we were served was delicious. This restaurant is a gem and is reasonably priced.

“Funky and tasty and a bargain”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

This was a great place for a relaxing lunch. A laid back decor greeted us as we pulled into the open unpaved parking lot under the tree canopy. Very friendly staff, very informative about the dishes on the menu and how they might fit our tastes. Food was great, well cooked (fried food was not at all greasy!) and reasonably priced. Portions were large, but not ridiculously so. A great experience, we'll be back every time we're in Hilton Head. Bottom line: it's kind of like an improved Sea Shack with a much more pleasant dining service experience.

“Hopefully it was a bad day”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

We had two at our table and ordered the fish platter. It came with hushpuppies-- they were so hard I think I could have broke a window if I threw it. When mentioning it to the waiter he told us they are making some fresh (why would you serve something that has been sitting for a long time and then reheat it.) They told us that the crab cakes did not have a lot of filler, they were wrong they .had more filler than crab. The other items on our fish platter were very good Cod, tilapia and scallops . Our sides, red beans and rice were ok but the sweet potato corn bread was so dry I couldn't get it down even with water, and I like dry things but could not eat it.

“Gave it a second chance...”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

We never judge a restaurant by one experience, so we decided to give Roastfish & Cornbread a second chance after a very disappointing first visit. On our first visit the service was extremely poor and the food was marginal at best. Our waitress seemed as though we were a bother. On our second visit, our server was the only bright spot in our visit. Didn't catch her name, but she wore her hair very short and was very friendly. Unfortunately, even her friendly manner couldn't make up for the fact that our main course was served several minutes before our appetizer arrived. I ordered a lentil salad with Israeli couscous and the couscous was missing. They were out of every dessert on the menu. Overall, the food was uninspired. Sorry, but we won't be going back to Roastfish.
