This is a beautiful area, but be ready for LOTS of walking! To get to the first pond was almost a mile walk so young children may not be able to make it the whole island walking. It’s definitely worth the stop as it’s very pretty and there’s lot of birds to be seen. We saw a fox while driving in too! Pinckney island is before you reach Hilton Head and is free to enter. Bring lots of water and your walking shoes as there’s only one way to enter so however far you walk in you have to walk that back out! We only made it the first mile in as my 6 and 11 year old were already tired from another stop, but even just that far was amazing to see! Lots of marsh land and birds and crabs were seen. Amazing walking area and was stroller friendly, it’s a dirt road though so a running stroller would be better I didn’t have one this trip and it still worked out just a little harder in some spots.
