“Great food with an amazing view”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

I have recently moved to the area and was brought to this restaurant by my real estate agent. It has now become one of my favorite places to dine on Hilton Head. The atomsphere is fun and there always seems to be something going on here on the weekends whether it's live music or some sort of party in the outdoor bar area. The restaurant is right on the waterway and while you might have a long wait if you show up on a busy night, you can atleast enjoy the beautiful views while you wait. I would recommend the lobster corndogs, the seafood pasta, and the sushi. They also make great hush puppies and dinner rolls are available by request and both are delicious. The staff has always been friendly and accomodating. I have visited this restaurant with diabetics and people with strict dietary restrictions and they have been very willing to work with us on finding the best menu options for the people in my party. I have always enjoy my meals at the Boathouse.

“Love the outside seating & view”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

There is nothing more relaxing than sitting outside looking at the water (and in May we watch them putting large boats in the water). This is part of a small chain that we have found consistently provides very good food and service. Previously we have done brunch here (highly recommend)...had lunch yesterday. The crab cake was one of the best I ever had. Our trip to Hilton Head would not have been complete without a visit here.

“Worth the wait”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Two different people recommended "The Boathouse" to us so we decided to go our last day. They do not take reservations, first in, first to sit. They have outdoor seating overlooking a beautiful view of the water. It was a 90 minute wait for us when we got there at 6:15. They had a "happy hour" till 7 so we decided to stay and wait. While we were waiting 4 stools opened up at the bar so we just ate there. The food was awesome. They have an extensive seafood menu and steaks for the non-seafood eaters. Appetizers of hush puppies (since we don't get those in MA) and calamari. The family loved them both. Dinners were- gumbo soup, cocoa seared scallops and steaks. Everything was terrific. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It had everything you would want- a nice atmosphere, tvs for the sports fanatics, happy hour and great food. Not sure what else anyone could ask for?

“Always excellent!”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

We have visited this restaurant several times. The last time was on Mothers Day 2013. Even though the restaurant was busy, we still received excellent service. We usually order off the menu, but opted for the buffet this day. It was very good. You cannot beat the views at this place! Even if you have to wait a little bit, it is worth it. Just be patient, have a cocktail and watch the water go by!

“Another tourist trap, awful service”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Not sure why I keep getting sucked into going to these tourist traps. The hostess was rude, wait staff super slow and unattentive. Getting a table outside on a Friday or Saturday is impossible without an hour + wait. Food was mediocre at best. The buffalo dip was the best out of everything. The caesar salad didn't taste like one at all - I don't understand the avocado in the dressing - it would have been better served on a taco salad. The Pork Oscar was "ok" but not for the price. Bottom line: If this restaurant wasn't on the water it wouldn't be in business.

Thank you for posting your review. I'm sorry that you feel we are a tourist trap, the majority of our year round business is actually locals that enjoy our food, service, and of course the view. We do take our Motto of "Every Guest Every TIme" very seriously so if you or anyone reading this is ever unhappy with the service or food please ask to speak with a manager on duty who will always correct the issue. Hope to see you again! ChrisG
