We have stayed at this resort year after year! Our kids beg us not go anywhere but here! Everything is clean, safe and extremely convenient. Its close to all major grocery stores, wal mart, fresh market, etc. its on the "quieter" side of the island as well. its within walking distance of an ice cream shop and putt-putt. The pool is HUGE and clean and the kids activities are great. The kids can ride their bikes all over the place and meet other kids in a secure environment. The pool bar is fun and the entertainment is great-free early shows for the kids and then late adult shows right there at the clubhouse! We decided after our first year staying here, that our kids would have years of wonderful memories to look back on when they think of summer vacation at HHBT! See ya soon:)

We went there to find the place was surrounded by a swamp like marsh. There was a bad smell. There is quite a walk down the board walk to get to the beach. There were some drunks hanging out at the beach asking for money every day. We won't go back.

My husband and I went to Hilton Head in October, 2006 and were very impressed with our stay at the hotel. Upon arrival, we asked if there were any upgrades available, and we were moved into a courtyard view room, which also happened to have an ocean view. We told her it was our 10th anniversary, and came back after dinner that night to find a bottle of champagne and some chocolate covered strawberries!!

The room was great! It was huge with a comfortable bed, couch, kitchenette area, and a large enough bathroom. The room was cleaned well everyday, and the toiletries replaced (Crabtree and Evelyn, really liked that too!)

There was no internet in the room, but that wasn't really a problem for us.

We had the concierge help us several times with tee times, and dinner suggestions, and they were very helpful and knowledgeable.

We ate breakfast once at the hotel, and that was enough. The breakfast at Sunset Cafe was much better, and far less expensive.

The night club the first night was great! They had a great band, with a lot of people dancing and having a good time. We found out the time of year we were there is when all the snowbirds start coming in, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised when we came back the next night and it was Bingo night!

Overall, this was one of my better hotel visits. The staff was friendly, helpful, and knew the area; our room was perfect and we had a great time!

We have been staying at the Beach and Tennis Resort for 12 years now and have NEVER been disappointed. DO NOT reserve this place if you are one of those snotty, picky, nose-in-the-air guests but DO reserve this place if you want to lay about and relax. The one bedroom ocean front rooms are nice for a family of two or three. The two bedroom Ocean View rooms are large enough for my family of four to comfortably move about. We stay in Admiral's Row, the newest of the buildings. The furniture and furnishings are generally of nice quality and in good working order. The resort is one of the older resorts and because of that, should not be confused with a five star resort, but it is comfortable and relaxing, with a couple of swimmings pools, a bike rental shop, and a great restaurant in the check-in building. The landscape is well maintained and we have NEVER had a negative experience with a staff member. The beachfront does get quite crowded in front of the resort, but if you are willing to turn right and walk about two hundred yards, you have the beach virtually to yourself. In mid-July (when we were last there), we shared the water with one other family while the beach in front of the resort was bustling. Don't miss out on this quality resort because of a few expect-too-much reviewers. When comparing prices, quality, relaxation, space, and just overall feel, the Beach and Tennis Resort cannot be beat.

The resort was built 1978 -80. Condos are individually owned so check carefully (ask questions) about the conditions of the unit you are renting. Most have been completely overhauled and are tasteful, clean, and complete. We stay in the Tennis Villas which are the furthest from the beach (about 300 yards) and walking has never been a problem. Sometimes we do bike but it is for enjoyment only. There is parking available beachside if you do feel the need to drive over. Our unit came furnished with a wagon to tote our items. They had free crab races (real hermit crabs) that my kids thoroughly enjoyed 2 evenings of the week and they had a "casino" night where you paid a fee to get chips and then played black jack, texas hold-em, and roulette. It was a lot of fun and they cashed in their chips for raffle tickets for door prizes at the end. It was $10 for my 3 kids to play. 2 hours of fun and laughter. It was great. BTW, there were adults playing too ($10 each). The resort is located mid-island so you are close to everything. You can rent through the resort rental company or you can contact owners directly via web searches to rent from them. That is what we did. Hope this helps you decide.

This was our first trip to Hilton Head. We rented a 1 bedroom villa directly from the owner at VRBO. We stayed 5 nights for a total of $550.00 with tax and cleaning included. Our villa was in Building B (room 306) and was very clean. Towels and sheets were included. The beach was very nice. It got a little crowded in the afternoon. There is a huge pool and an oceanfront bar. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in Admiral's Row, last room in the building furthest from the beach. This resort consumes a lot of ground so be prepared to have a plan of transportation in place. People rented or brought bicycles to get closest beach or pool access.

Our accommodaations needed some serious updating. For example the tile in the hall bathroom was cracked in places as was the mortar between the wall tile and the floor tile. It looked as if some of the fixtures had been there since it the building was built. I'd say in the that would have been in the 60's.

The pool closest to the beach is huge! A word of caution, the decking can get very slippery in places so shoes with some type of non-skid bottom shoes are a must!

Rum Runners and Kings Wharf eateries. The grouper fins and chicken fingers at Rum Runners are very tasty. Don't waste your time going to the Kings Wharf. I was very disappointed with the dish I ordered.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give this place a 3, which is being generous. I think we'll try another place next time.
