“Very old and outdated”
Reviewed April 11, 2009

If vintage is your thing then this is the hotel for you. I am used to modern accomodations, this place is far from modern. Wicker furniture, vcr's, old fashion flooring and hard beds. The service was OK but the place needs to be renovated.

We just got back from spending a week in a condo at this resort. It is off season and we got a fantastic rate - just $350 for the whole week! We found the condo here: http://www.vrbo.com/5451 There was highspeed internet which made planning our day out so much easier (weather, local events, mapquest...). There was a plasma screen TV and good cable but we didn't watch much TV - too much to see and do! Our view was the ocean and dunes (not a parking lot or other condos) and the condo was decorated beach style and incrediably clean (I think the owner runs a cleaning company which would explain why it was so clean) and quiet (it is an end unit). To walk to the beach we just went down a flight of stairs and walked down the boardwalk. Unfortunately it was freezing the week we were there so we really only walked along the beach and didn't use the pool or other amneties so I can't speak to those. But the location was good - near tons of restaurants. We especially recommend Signes for breakfast (seriously, it was our best meal all week) and the Sea Shack. Both were on Racheal Ray's $40 a day and were so tasty. I also went to Faces Day Spa and got the golf widower's revenge package - the facial was to die for. If had to pick just one treatment that would surely be it. The rest of the time we either drove down to Savannah (about 45 minutes) or up to Charleston (closer to 2 hours) to explore all of the historical houses, museums, and plantations. We had a blast. If you go to Savannah be sure to go on a horse drawn carriage tour and eat at the Pink House (you can skip The Lady and Sons). Also be sure to check out the local events - we went to some of the Gullah festival events (gospel concert and film festival), the Telfair museum in Savannah has a gospel brunch each month, and SOBA had a winter art walk that was SO fun! The Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce listed many of these: http://www.hiltonhead.com/calendar_index.cfm?subcategoryID=31
Have fun!!

Our group of four avid golfers booked a 4 day golf package through Mark Ridgeway who addressed all our needs and couldn't have been more professional and helpful.
Everything was absolutely top shelf. The room was very nice, with an ocean view. All of our golfing rounds went off without a hitch and we were even upgraded to a better course due to some maintenance being performed on one of the courses we had chosen. We could not have a had a better experience and we will definately be back next year!! Well worth the money!!
Thanks again, Mark!

We just returned from a week stay at Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort. The resort itself is very nice and family friendly. The pool is very large, and there is a Tiki Bar that serves food during the day. We rented bikes from the resort for only $21 for the week.
We stayed in Villa A in unit A240. DO NOT RENT THIS UNIT!!!!!!!! It is not clean, has a musky smell, and is outdated. It is not a warm and cozy condo that you would want to stay in while on vacation. Instead, we avoided being in the condo b/c we felt so dirty while we were in it. We rented from vrbo.com directly from the owner, and he was very unaccommodating and would not return our phone calls. Since we paid by check, we had no choice but to stay in the condo for the week. Also, the owner advertised on his website "Our oceanfront condos offer an unobstructed view of ocean. No parking lot views!". However, the only view we had was a parking lot view, we could not see the ocean from our balcony. The condos are very small, but the resort itself is nice. We rented from Hilton Head Island Club on our last vacation, which has much roomier and updated condos.
I would definitely stay at Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort again, but I would definitely not rent from this owner.

My Husband and I went with our friends and their two children and had a very relaxing time. Our condo was very clean and well maintained. The only complaint was the cost of drinks was very pricey.....other than that we had a really good time. I was really impressed with how clean and well maintained our condo was after reading some of the reviews I was a litte worried but our condo was great and our friends condo was very clean and neat also. Overall we had a wonderful time and would go back.

Stayed in a tennis "villa" in building E. Not quite my idea of a villa, rather a shabby condo. The condo was dated, equipment provided ready to fall apart, and the condo was dirty. The toilet was streaked in black marks as it had not seen a brush in ages. Dust on everything above eye level. Covers for the bed were of a thrift store variety. We had some uninvited guests too - roaches in the bedroom. The headboard was set against the wall so if you moved in the bed it toppled towards you! Overall, we made a very poor decision renting this condo and would not rent here again. The resort was convenient to the beach and the the resort personnel were friendly. We noted that many of the condos had been updated; go for one of these. Use a rental agency.

Just returned from our second stay at Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort. My husband and our two daughters, ages 11 and 13 spent four nights here. The accomodations were not "fancy" but are clean and functional. The kitchen was small but was well-stocked with everything we needed. Our villa was a one bedroom with captain's bunks and a fold-out sofa - much roomier than a hotel room and for less. We stayed in the Admiral's row section which is little more private. We rented bikes on site and rode from one end of the island to the other.

Tried to book online but they were having problems with their site. We actually got a better deal booking over the phone directly anyway. Our entire stay was $518 which included taxes.
Contrary to some other reviews, we found the staff friendly and accomodating,. They even allowed us to check-in several hours early since our villa was available.
