My daughters and I stayed here in July for the first time, using my Starwood points. Overall we were pleased, but would have been disappointed if we had paid the $280 rate I saw online. The hotel has been nicely renovated, and the grounds are very pretty. Our room was very comfortable but not plush. My biggest complaint is that the main pool is way too small for the number of people staying here. There are two other much smaller pools, but they seemed to be mainly for the toddlers.By early afternoon, the main pool was so crowded you could not move in it without bumping into someone. There were many, many young children, and the noise level made it hard to relax It would be nice if they had an adult only pool. The beach was a very short walk, but was also very crowded. The hotel lobby was nice, but rather cold to me. There is a food counter selling Starbucks, but the lines were outrageous every morning. Really no activities for the kids, except a "kids camp" which was $20 an hour, and seemed to be more of a babysitting service. I would return using my points, but wouldn't pay their typical rates, as I don't feel the value is there.

Thank you for sharing your feedback concerning your July visit to The Westin. Delighted to know that overall your family was pleased and that you enjoyed our recent renovation. We do have 3 swimming pools and an outdoor hot tub that are very active and enjoyed by most guests in July. Our beach location is usually one of the least crowded spots on Hilton Head Island, and offers the availabiltiy of umbrellas, chairs, and water sports/recreational activities with miles of beach to walk or bicycle. Our Discovery Kids Camp is offered daily at a rate of $15 per hour which includes numerous activities, snacks twice a day, and the option to purchase lunch. We also have a Kids Night Out program with fun activities available for a fee. We have daily discovery kids activities offered complimentary daily in the pool and beach environment, and these activities are located at an indoor location in the event of inclement weather. Outside Hilton Head is a private company on site that offers numerous daily activities for a fee for both adults and children. We also have golf and tennis facilties nearby with options for children. We hope that you will return in the future to fully experience all the amenities of our resort and so that we can meet all your expectations at that time for a rejuvenating stay.

We stayed at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa for a long weekend getaway in August, 2013. We booked a "Premium Ocean Front" room. The room was very nice but was NOT ocean front. Any room that is on the side of the hotel is considered "ocean view" by my description. I inquired about the "Ocean Front" rooms that are in the picture of the hotel and was told that those are "suites". You can see by the point of the pen in one of my pictures were our room was and you can also see from my pictures what our "ocean front" view was. When we were sitting on our balcony we could not hear the ocean waves, only the mechanical equipment noise coming from the resort next door.

The hotel was very nice, however, there were several areas around the hotel that had buckets on the floor catching water as it leaked from the ceiling - not very attractive! Scott checked us in and recognized our Starwood Preferred guest status and thanked us for our loyalty. Bobson Darkins, one of the bellmen / valet guys was extremely nice. He greeted us, as well as our dog, by name every time he saw us on the property. All of the housekeeping staff we passed in the hallways spoke and inquired about our stay each time they saw us. On our first day after arrival our room was cleaned by 10:00 AM, however, on our second day our room was not cleaned until after 3:00 PM and I had to ask for fresh towels to take a shower before the room was cleaned. There is a cup by cup coffee maker in the room with Starbucks coffee (I believe there was tea as well). Coffeemate liquid creamer is provided which is a nice touch over the powdered creamer. While there is ample closet space, there are only 2 drawers in the room. We found the bed to be a little on the hard side and woke up with neck / back aches each day. The rooms, however, are very soundproof and the only time we heard anything coming from another room was if we were in the hallway. There is a safe in the room.

One evening I was trying to take pictures of a storm approaching and dropped the remote control to my camera onto the balcony below us. I called "service express" to inquire as to how I could get the remote and was told that security would be notified. I called back 30 minutes later, as I had heard nothing from security, and was told that they had called the room below us and no one answered and they could not enter the room if no one was in there. I had a $100.00 piece of equipment laying on the balcony below me getting soaked from the rain so I went down to the desk and inquired with the night supervisor what could be done. Olivia, the night supervisor, was able to contact the night manager and come up with a solution to get my remote from the balcony below. Thank-you Olivia for going the extra mile and being so responsive to my needs!

We ate at the Carolina Cafe breakfast buffet each morning and it was very good. Nice buffet selections, cooked to order egg station, nice selection of breads and bagels.

There are walking paths from the hotel up to Hwy 278. Very nice and shaded. However, there were storms each day we were there and a lot of large limb pieces littered the path. Someone should be assigned to keep the walkways cleared of these limbs so walkers and bikers have a safe walk / ride. There were also beer cans and bottles, paper trash, styrofoam containers strewn along the path which should also be picked up daily. Even if this is not property of the Westin, it would make for a much more enjoyable walk if the area was less littered.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent stay at The Westin, as one of our valued SPG guests, and for noting the hotel and your guest room were very nice. We do have many room type classifications including ocean front (complete view of the ocean), ocean view (some view of the ocean), pool/ocean view, resort view, and island view. We always do our best to accommodate guests in the room type reserved, and some of our premium ocean front guest rooms are in fact located on the angle of the building with the best view. Thank you for sharing that you enjoyed breakfast in the Carolina Cafe each morning. We also appreciate your complimentary comments on Scott, Olivia, Bobson, and our housekeeping team as our staff always strives to provide personal and instinctive service to each guest. In our busy summer season, our housekeeping team works from approximiately 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. cleaning the guest rooms. We do also accept guest requests for a particular cleaning timeframe. We were glad to know that your remote control was retrieved, but we do have necessary protocols in place to ensure the privacy and comfort of all our guests. The bike/walking paths are located in Port Royal Resort which are not part of our resort, but they are usually very well maintained, so we assume this was an isolated incident. We hope that you will return in the future so we may meet and exceed all your expectations.

Recently stayed at this property for 4 nights and we were very satisfied! The resort has some wonderful amenities and has been so nicely upgraded. The rooms as well as the whole indoor and outdoor areas are so comfortable and pleasant. The location is great, walk right down to a very nice beach and easy access to bike trails which take you all over the island! The only negatives I can list are that the rooms are by no means sound proof, you can hear everything that goes on in the hallway and in next door rooms, and the parking is very limited. You basically have to search for a spot every time you leave and return. Overall, this is a truly wonderful resort and we would definitely return!

We stayed at the Westin Hilton Head Resort between 9 and 13 August, and we had a wonderful wonderful time. We got this hotel package per suggestions we had received from colleagues from work, and we were totally pleased with our stay. From the moment we entered the hotel complex, we felt welcome by the beautiful lobby area and most importantly, by the front desk staff which was totally friendly and helpful at check-in and throughout our stay at the hotel, providing us with all the information we needed concerning things to do in the Westin resort and on the island. In fact, all the people working at the Westin resort that we met, the concierge, the staff at the cafe and restaurant, the staff in the hotel store, etc., were warm, helpful, enthusiastic, striving to make the hotel guests have a wonderful stay. The Westin hotel itself is almost a work of art. The interior is high end design, including the rooms and the room amenities. The exterior, especially the resort side facing the ocean, has top landscape design, in which wooden terraces intermingle with palm trees, conifers, ponds, flower beds, pools, and a few bars and restaurants which serve tasty frozen drinks. The view from this side of the hotel is priceless, since you can see the ocean through the palm trees, and feel the breeze day or night. The beach is beautiful and starts right outside of the pool area, extending left and right as much as you could see. Because the Westin is pretty much at the heel of the island, you can walk just mile or so on the beach to an almost secluded area where the only things you see and hear are the waves and the birds and crabs. All of these are reasons for which I will definitely come back to the Westin Resort on my next beach vacation, and for which I totally recommend this resort to anyone who would like to vacation on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

This was one of the best experiences we've had at any hotel. From he champagne and strawberries waiting for us in our room when we arrived to the personal device we received from staff (especially Freddy, the manager of the resort restaurants), we were truly humbled by the attention we received. We felt like total rockstars. And compared to what we've paid to stay at other places closer to home (Baltimore) we were floored by the value. It rained a good part of our stay, but somehow, it didn't matter. We'll be brining our 4-year old back with us in September because it also turned out to be a very family (and dog) friendly place.

My wife and I came to the Westin Hilton Head shortly after renovations were completed and found the hotel to be clean and the rooms to be immaculate. Service was so-so, a little stiff and there wasn't the most welcoming vibe, but there weren't any needs we had that weren't met. The Hotel is right on the beach and there are multiple pools on the property that we appreciated. I think the vibe is more "business conference" than "family friendly" but it's a clean, modern hotel in a great location. We would definitely return again.

Stayed 2 nights with our 5 and 8 year old. Hotel is very clean. Nice modern decor but I thought the atmosphere was more "conference center" like than "relaxing vacation" like. Very nice pools. Beach was great. Kids had a blast riding waves. Ocean and pool temp in August were so warm that we could stay in the water for hours and not get chilled. Food was fair. Friendly service. Awesome, comfortable bedding.
