Great place to go and walk around on the trails. The area is beautiful and kept nice. The wildlife keeps you busy looking for more.

Spent a couple of hours wandering the trails and taking pictures. This walk gives you a great idea of the natural features of the island different from the wonderful groomed golf courses. Both are beautiful! My only complaint is we could not ride our bikes into the Sea Pines community from outside . . . . what is that about ?????

There are no fee as written by other reviewer. In fact sea pines owners keep there boats there, with free permits. The wild life is terrific and the peacefulness is so relaxing. Go and enjoy...

Lots of wildlife- great birds everywhere. Great walking trails. Wildflowers, plants; a wonderful nature preserve so close to the ocean yet feels like you are miles away.

We entered the preserve through the Lawton Street walking entrance (not far from the prep school). That path doesn't have many elevated walkways, but it is a nice, shady walk through the woods past a few little ponds. One of the high points of that path is the shell ring, an ancient artifact of native tribes. The ring has a few information signs around it, so it is a nice educational area. We walked on to the lake and fishing area, on to the rookery. This is the area where we saw the most wildlife - an Anhinga or two, great blue herons, even a couple of ibises. I would do the preserve again in a heartbeat, but spend more time and explore the walkways in the rice area. And I will confirm what others have written - make sure to take bug spray!
