Egret Point by Spinnaker Resorts
Reviewed November 17, 2009

We had a tree bedroom unit at Egret Point in the Shipyard plantation. the units were very spacious and very well equiped with everything one would need, even a full sized washer-dryer. Our balcony overlooked a lagoon which was home to a large alligator.
The staff was very helpful and hosted many activities through out the week.
The best part were the two bikes that came free with our unit---miles of bike paths all over the island. It was a short 10 minutes ride to shopping and the beach. we loved it andwill return.

We just spent a wonderful week at Egret Point. We had a three bedroom three bath located on a beautiful lagoon. Our condo was spotless and the furniture was very nice.
We loved that two bikes are included with the condo-that saves about $35 a week .
We rode all over the island and really loved riding within the Shipyard Plantation. We saw lots of turtles and even saw an alligator one day. It is about a 10 minute bike ride to the beach-we walked every day and saw lots of dolphins.

We sat by the pool two days-the weather was great -in the high 60s and low 70s. The pool was heated and several people were in the pool. The activitity center has wireless and we were also able to pick up wireless in our condo sometimes-spotty, but you could get it sometimes-you could get it all the time if you want to go out on the front porch.

We had a great time and would love to return to Egret Point.

My family and I just returned from HHI. We stayed in Shipyard Plantation in Egret Point. Our condo was a 3 BR/3BA. While I consider myself hard to impress - I was REALLY impressed. The grounds were manicured. The condo was clean and well appointed. I'm normally a germaphobe but I felt really comfortable in this condo. The condo came with two beach comber bicycles and since we brought our childrens bikes, everyone was able to ride together. Everyone rides bikes in HHI and it's nice to see families enjoying quality time together. The pool was conveniently located across the parking lot from our condo. The pool was never crowded and people were very friendly. They have a great activity center that's a safe and fun place for the kids to hangout and play table tennis, video games, etc... The beach in Shipyard was very impressive. Clean white sand, convenient to parking for your car or bike. You can buy refreshments. The restrooms were clean and outdoor showers were available as well. I have nothing but praise and compliments for this location and we have decided to make this an annual family vacation!!! Cudos to Spinnaker Resorts too for making the reservation process a breeze. Also remember to visit Harbor Town. You have to pay $5 to enter this resort but that's were the lighthouse, marina and restaurants are. It's a bit crowded but we enjoyed ourselves.

We stayed at Egret Point, a Spinnaker Resort in Shipyard Plantation from March 8 to 15th, 2008. What a wonderful place. It is rated an RCI Gold Crown Resort and I absolutely agree. The resort is spotless, and maintenance is on top of every problem or question you may have.

We had a 3 bedroom/3 bathroom villa, unit #4430. There are many outside stairs because the 3 bedrooms are overtop the 2 bedroom villas. Once inside there are another set of stairs to the 3rd bedroom which contains 2 twin beds, plus its own private full bathroom, NO TV up there (bummer for kids with XBox as was our experience) but they lived with it.

On the main level there are 2 king master suites with their own private full bath. Each of these bedrooms are at opposite ends of villa, so are private. The main level also contains the kitchen/utility room with full size washer and dryer/ dining room and living room, all open concept. There is a balcony with 4 chairs and table off the living room. Our balcony overlooked the lagoon and trees dripping with Spanish Moss. There is a TV in each master suite and a TV in the living room. There is a DVD player and CD entertainment unit. The cathedral ceiling opens all the way up to the second story bedroom and makes for a grand, spacious feel. Our unit was fresh and decorated top notch.

Two free cruiser bikes come with the villa and are housed in their own storage unit at the bottom of the stairs to the villa with a key entry. Our villa also came with FREE golf for up to four players daily. The guys were able to play the 3 Shipyard courses (which they liked the best) and the 3 Port Royal courses: Barony, Robber's Row and Planter's Row. We also had one hour of FREE tennis which had to be booked in Port Royal. We never used that due to the inconvenience of the drive over there.

The pool is heated year-round. The only pool in the Spinnaker Resort line-up that is heated. There is a HOT HOT tub. You could boil lobsters in there. Many people enjoyed it. It made me feel light headed after a couple of minutes. Not a complaint though. There are loads of sun loungers, a few umbrella tables and chairs. There are pool towels provided down there and a washroom/change room. The resort feel around the pool is very nice. Clean, clean, clean. Adjacent to the pool is the Activity Center with a pool table, ping-pong table, foosball, books, games, video rental, arts & crafts and free Wi-Fi and a free computer with free internet. There is a spotless washroom inside the activity center. There is also a small exercise room. Outside of the activity center there are four picnic tables and two gas BBQs which are, again, spotless, and free to use. We did up a steak BBQ one night and had the guests around the pool drooling. I think it was the Canadian bacon we were also bbqing.

Each villa is given a coupon for $20 for the entire villa for the week to use the amenities at the Player's Club. What a deal! We did not use it but it is amazing if you're into that sort of thing, personal trainers, exercise classes, aerobics classes, indoor heated pool, weights, too many to mention. That complete cost is only $20 for the week for everyone in the villa.

Our deal came with a $50 dining certificate but that was a special and they do those specials with different denominations of dollar discounts.

The bike ride to the beach is 10 minutes. Too far to walk, in my honest opinion. We biked everywhere. Coligny Plaza is so close and the BI-LO grocery store is 3 minutes away by bike. You are also given a discount for additional bikes for only $18 for the week. A real must. You can bike to the beach access beside the Crowne Plaza Resort or the Coligny Beach access. Both are about the same. Maybe the Crowne Plaza access is a tad further but not by much. It's a beautiful ride anyway.

The Cottages at Shipyard are adjacent (across the road and some around the bend) from Egret Point. No heated pool there, just a hot tub.

Shipyard is a beautiful plantation with the largest population of alligators. We were told that they leave the alligators there until they reach 10 feet then they take them away because they become too aggressive or not feared enough of humans. Don't know if that's the truth or not, sounded good to us. Alligators are everywhere in the lagoons and golf courses.

Shipyard via the Pope Avenue gatehouse is very close to Coligny Plaza where there are loads of little shops, surf shops, restaurants, including Skillets, and the beach. There is a liquor store on Lagoon Road. Wild Wing is very handy. Aunt Chilada's is 3 minutes by bike. We loved Shipyard due to the proximity of things especially for kids and teenagers. We had a group of 14 with us including 5 teenagers and it was so nice for them to be able to ride to the beach, ice cream shops, etc. We took our FRS and they had a blast talking to each other on the bikes and staying together as a group.

I would highly recommend Egret Point.

We took our bikes around the plantation to seek out the other Spinnaker Resorts, Southwind, Southwind II, the Carolina Club, etc and we liked our location the best. The rest are buried away inside the plantation and not as convenient in my opinion.

The villa is very well stocked although short on baking supplies. They have a check list for things in the villa and if you are needing anything in addition they will bring it to you if they have it.

All in all, we go return to Egret Point in a heartbeat. We have stayed many times on Hilton Head and prefer that end of the island, but that is only our opinion. Hope this review helps. I know it's hard to find anything on Egret Point or, for that matter, any Spinnanker Resort on Hilton Head. By the way, there are many activities that you can join in at the Waterside by Spinnaker as well, kids arts and crafts, hot dog meals, spaghetti dinners, etc.
