Owner description: After a multimillion-dollar reconstruction project in 2007, The Sea Pines Resort is pleased to introduce its newest must-play course, Heron Point by Pete Dye. Designed by legendary course architect Pete Dye, Heron Point is nothing short of a modern work of art, the centerpiece of any Hilton Head Island golf vacation.

3rd year playing here. Not sure what happened, but greens are gone. No mention of this from pro shop. Would have been courteous to notify those making tee times. I usually enjoy this course more than the Ocean course, but several greens were almost unplayable. I understand this can happen, but, as expensive as it is to play, they should discount the round or disclose the conditions to customers. Extremely disappointed.

First and last time at this golf course because of the poor conditions for the majority of the greens. Based on previous reviews before booking my tee time I questioned about the aeration and was assured the majority of the greens were in good shape. We were paired with another couple from N.J. who played this course many times and was shocked at the poor condition the greens were in. Finishing the round on the 18th green a worker was tamping multiple patches of new grass. From tee box up to the greens the course was in excellent condition. I was very disappointed especially paying $110 for the round.

Excellent golf course, all of our foursome would like to come back.
We were told that green aeration had been a couple of weeks before, but for the condition of several, the price should have been discounted. Also, we showed up early to hit some balls, and the driving range is being totally re-done. Don't know whether that's on the golf course or resort concierge.

I had no idea until I showed up that they had stamped the greens. No discount was offered for the poor conditions. Call first and find out the green conditions before spending this kind of money!

We regret to hear about your experience. The atypical course conditions you experienced are a result of aerification; like all premier courses in the Southeast, Heron Point by Pete Dye aerifies at the beginning of each summer.

It is a necessary maintenance procedure to sustain our championship course conditions the remainder of the year. It is a very short-term disruption that only occurs once per year, and provides long-term benefits for our golf courses.

We hope to consistently deliver value to our guests and actually reduce our rates the week prior to aerification.

Should you have any questions in the future regarding course conditions, we would strongly urge you to contact our golf shop directly: 843.842.1477.

We strive to be as attentive to our guests needs as possible, and encourage you to play Heron Point by Pete Dye again.

Great course be sure to check it out. Dye has created the definition of undulating greens on this course....lots of ups and down. Only disappointment about the course is a temporary one. Sea Pines is building a new fantastic club house for the heron point and ocean courses. Also, they are renovating the driving range. I am sure the new range will be awesome, but they have no alternative practice range. Not good for travelers looking for a warmup after a long drive to the beach.
