Our stay here was very easy and enjoyable and made all the better by the very comfortable living areas of the house, it has a well stocked kitchen with excellent catering facilities, an easy log burner and by far for us the most used area was the outside lakeside seating and dining area. We did not stay long enough to do many of the activities available but the Spa facility was a real treat, the walks and countryside are just great and Cirencester is a pleasant place to go and shop. Top marks!!
Very lucky to visit this gem of a property. Ducklings is a spacious, well appointed house with an incredible lakeside position. The luxurious bedrooms, cosy sofas, fully equipped kitchen, serene views and games for the children were well appreciated. The property includes access to swimming pools, play areas, walks and more which were perfect for families and the spa was amazing too, especially enjoyed on Mother's Day!
We have just returned from a weekend stay at Ducklings overlooking Clearwater on the Lower Mill Estate. We were two families with children between 10-13.
The house is perfect for families as there is a great bunkroom on the top floor with its own bathroom and more bedrooms on the first floor. There are plenty of bathrooms, the water is always hot and the showers are very powerful! There is certainly plenty of room even if you are a party of 12. Downstairs there is a lovely open plan kitchen, dining, and seating area. The kitchen is really well equipped with lots of pans and bowls etc but also weighing scales and other useful things that you don't usually find in a rented house. The outside terrace overlooking the lake looked great but, unfortunately, as it was February it was too cold to take advantage of it. We did go swimming and play tennis and we went on a lovely walk around some of the larger lakes nearby. The Thames Path passes by near the entrance to the Estate so that would make a good walk too. The children also enjoyed the playground and the trampoline. The free WiFi is a big bonus but beware that mobile reception is not so good in the house.
There are obviously quite a few houses on the Lower Mill Estate and many of them were occupied when we were there but it was always very quiet. Its certainly a place where you can sit outside and listen to the birds singing and watch the ducks and swans on the lake. Very peaceful.
It is not a traditional Cotswold cottage but once inside it is has a lovely log burning stove and is the perfect house to stay in for a large group.
